gods-wrathTo be clear, I don’t think we’ve reached any kind of stage where we need to be more worried about Matt Garza’s “mildly” strained left lat than we were when it first occurred. But …

It’s been one week since Matt Garza had the MRI which confirmed that mild strain, and one week since he was informed that he should rest for a week before starting to throw again. So, that week is now up, and Garza isn’t throwing yet.

No one seems to be concerned, but the Cubs haven’t even scheduled his next throwing session because he hasn’t yet received medical clearance. Garza says he could throw now if the Cubs would let him, but he still feels a spot that’s “a little annoying.” He wouldn’t call it “pain,” but obviously it’s a little something.

As of now, there is no firm timetable for his next pitching session. Hopefully that changes in the next day or so, although Garza still has plenty of time to get ready for the start of the season, which is more than a month away.

Annoying is a great way to describe it.

  • Chad

He’s not going to get traded now (if he ever does) so why rush him back. I want him pitching well as we get into June/July, though I hope that he can get extended unless the cubs can get an absolute haul in prospects for him.

next thing is that his arm falls off but it’s just a flesh wound lol hopefully the cubs are just being cautious , we’ve heard this ” nothing to be concerned about before”and they end up out for months hope it is what they say it is.

I just saw on twitter that he has been scheduled for a Lat amputation.

Oh Boy… this guy! Why don’t you refrain from the Garza updates… I no longer care. Can he be injury free enough to actually earn his pay… I am beginning to doubt it.

  • TomDettore

    Can you say “towel drill”?

    Towel drill.

    Good! I knew you could.

Just wondering here. In the first week of Sprin Training, you have 3 guys go down with lat injuries. Should we be askig ourselves if this is a coaching issue?

      One lat, two quads.

        Into the gymnasium.

Still, lat or quad, I have to wonder if the coaching is a little careless about bringing everyone up to speed?
