The Cubs split their split squad games today, taking down the Angels 4-2, but losing to the Brewers 4-3.
- Nick Struck threw three scoreless innings against a pretty decent Angels lineup, striking out one and giving up just two hits. Chris Rusin’s line later in the game was almost identical – you just have to add one earned run.
- Edwin Jackson didn’t have a pretty two innings, allowing five base runners and a couple earned runs.
- Hector Rondon threw another scoreless inning. Ditto Hisanori Takahashi, who looks like one of the more likely non-roster invitees to make the bullpen.
- Brian Bogusevic seriously wants to make the team. He had another three hits in three at bats today, doubling twice and homering. It’s just Spring Training, but if he keeps ripping the ball, it will become difficult to ignore.
- In the Angels game, prospects Albert Almora and Dustin Geiger (and Jorge Soler) each got an at bat, which fine, I suppose. None got a hit. In the Brewers game, Dan Vogelbach struck out and took a walk, and Tim Saunders struck out.
- Javier Baez did, however, going deep for the first time on the Spring. He also drew a bases loaded walk.
- Don’t forget: today’s Cubs/Angels game is being rebroadcast on MLB Network tomorrow morning at 8:30am CT.

Are we going to have a game thread for tomorrow morning?
Tomorrow morning will be very unproductive. Im blaming brett
Struck will stick as I have said since last December….toot toot
I guess they’re NOT playing the cubs game on MLB network afterall. Bummer
Wow. This is crap.
Cubs just starting replay of Angels game right now at 9:15 CST
Not playing a single Cubs spring training game on MLB network is bad enough, but to fake us out like this is just cruel
Yes, but Magraine’s in-depth commentary on China Taipei is very interesting.
Ughhh!!! …going back to bed.
PLAY BALL!!!!!
Why is everybody saying the cubs aren’t on MLB network? I’m watching the game as I type this.
It started late.
It’s on! How did they score the first run??
oops, didn’t mean to make that a reply, just a normal comment
Bogusevic had a first inning smash. That dude has some size to him. Had no problems getting around on the inside fastball either.
very nice. He even has a chicago-style last name
Other than the double #68 just hit, struck looks real good
Has anyone heard of anything so far on Juan Carlos Paniagua? I Seem to remember that he was closer(more polished) that the other pitching prospects. Has he gotten in any games?
