BN Podcast Episode 21: Everything is Depressing, Guys Are Injured, and the Cubs Should Stay in Wrigley

bnpodcastimagesmallIt’s the 21st episode of a super awesome podcast featuring me and Sahadev Sharma. You can listen to the podcast there below, or download it for later listening. You can also subscribe via iTunes. Here’s your iTunes link, and you can also find it by searching in the iTunes store. For those of you who use other feed-catching services, here’s the podcast feed. For those of you just tuning in who want to catch up on prior episodes, here’s the whole lot.

As always, you can send questions, comments, etc. to the official podcast email address (podcast AT bleachernation DOT com) if you want your thoughts included on a future show. We had a billion emails on this one, which got us into proprietary Cubs software, trading young studs, international scouting, draft strategy, mascots, Hayden Simpson’s bleak future, and how Theo Epstein could become an Alderman.

This week, we talk about a range of unintentionally depressing topics, including Cubs big league injuries and Albert Almora’s broken hamate bone. Even a happy topic like Javier Baez’s recent homer binge turns sour when we get into the reality of his near-term future.

And then, of course, there’s the big discussion about the Cubs leaving Wrigley Field and moving to the suburbs.

And you also get to hear my despondence as I tracked the site’s outage while we were recording, and hear about Sahadev’s decades long quest for a tattoo.

Enjoy:

FYI, the top prospect from the Astros will play in Quad Cities for anyone in the area on here. He’s the #1 pick from last year’s draft. Should be some good matchups with Kane Co when they come here.

One thing I haven’t thought of before with the Cubs moving – would MLB allow it? Didn’t they have to approve the Marlins moving, and isn’t there a storyline where they’re not approving the Athletics moving?

My favorite episode to date of the best Cubs podcast on the net.

The depressing stuff just made it seem more authentic to me. You guys gained some cred.

    Also, hilarious.

“I looked it up on wikipedia, so that makes me a doctor. It seemed more handy than wristy.”

OK, I posted that with 25 minutes left, right before all the positive “Ian Stewart has a high ceiling” stuff. Cred revoked.

      1. Sahadev Sharma

If I said high ceiling, I meant in relation to Valbuena. HighER ceiling would have been a better choice of words. Please give me back my cred, I so desperately need it.

Sorry. Positive statements about Ian Stewart are simply not compatible with the goals of the cred program.

I am willing to give you probationary cred for correctly noting that Baez’s spring didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know about his awesome strengths while addressing none of his flaws.

I’m listening to the podcast now. As far as Morgana, the last time I remember her running onto the field was the game in which Cal Ripken, Jr. broke Lou Gehrig’s consecutive game streak. It’s been awhile since she’s been seen.

  7. Stinky Pete

I think she would trip if she tried running on to the field now….
