wrigley field from right bleachersThe home opener is finally here, and apparently there’s going to be reasonably nice weather for those in attendance. Wrigley Field in April is a dicey proposition, but it’s still Wrigley Field.

Speaking of the weather, the wind is apparently howling out right now, which could make things interesting. Today’s starter, Edwin Jackson, isn’t really a groundball pitcher (though at least he’s not an extreme flyball guy), so hopefully he can keep ’em out of the wind.

As for the Cubs, maybe the strong breeze will be what their bats need to turn some of those warning track shots into homers. Brent Lillibridge is back in the lineup after a couple days off in favor of Alberto Gonzalez.

Also back: Ryan Braun, for the Brewers. He’s been dealing with a sore neck, but he probably didn’t want to miss the opportunity to hit some long flyballs at Wrigley today.

This team fucking sucks, can’t these dickheads put a steady stream of hits together?

I am going to catch the Smokies play the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Reds). I am pretty stoked. I got tickets right by the dugout! I hope they have a hit parade against Pensacola. Ill def post my thoughts on the game/players tomorrow.

Catch the fever for the race for the 2014 #1 overall draft pick! Yay us! Thank god for the Blackhawks….

I love how Castro is hitting for opposite field power. That is a great sign, I think he has a phenomenal season ahead of him.

    Hits are fun to get!

  • Bric

When did Ian Kintzler switch to pitcher and get traded to the Brewers?

  • Bric

And wow- did Clevenger look overmatched in that AB.

  • willis

Sappelt is such a busted. Waste of roster space. Like most on this fucking team.

  • willis

    Yep…fake rally. Happens every time.

    Give ‘Em the heater Ricky!

It looks like Rizzo is gunning for a Hosmer sophomore season.

I don’t know if he has a future or not. I was never that big on him being a big secondary player in the trade although I know others were. But one thing’s clear- he and Clevenger (anther guy I didn’t really buy all the hype of, either) don’t belong in the bigs just yet.

Clearly batting against 3A pitchers like Kintzler isn’t that difficult as demonstrated by the first couple of hits. But both of these guys were overmatched mentally and physically when the game got down and dirty.
