The First BN Fantasy Contest Has Arrived: Your Free Chance to Win a Share of $300

DraftStreet Banner

At long last: It’s a new season, and that means our free, one-day fantasy contests are back, courtesy of DraftStreet. You once again have the opportunity to (1) win cash, (2) by playing a free game, and (3) help support Bleacher Nation. Sweet, huh? Your attention is appreciated.

Bleacher Nation has been given the opportunity to host an exclusive,* one-dayFREE fantasy baseball contest through DraftStreet.com, this Friday, April 12. It’s fun every year, and, if you missed out, here’s your chance to get in on the action.

The best part? The total payout for this free contest is $300 - and 25 people win cash. And, by participating, you’re supporting Bleacher Nation – which would be all kinds of awesome. Think of it this way: you get 365 days of free content from me, and in return, I ask only that you sign up for a free, cash-winning fantasy baseball contest. Sounds fair to me.

Ok. So what is the contest?

It’s a one-day fantasy baseball showdown (and I say showdown, because you better believe I’m playing, too) based on MLB games this Friday, April 12. It’s not like a whole season of fantasy baseball, and you don’t even have to understand fantasy baseball to enjoy playing (for the record, I don’t play fantasy baseball).

Here’s how you play: First, sign up for free at DraftStreet. It’s easy –  you just “create an account.” Then, “join the league,” and put together your team. You can do it all from that link there.

This free contest will be salary-cap style drafting where everyone tries to assemble the best team out of the available players. You will have a $100,000 budget to build a team of 12 players consisting of the following: Catcher, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, 1 Utility, 2 SP, and 1P. Each MLB player has been assigned a price, so you can creatively build your roster with stars and cheapies, or go for a balanced approach. You can adjust your roster up until the contest starts on Friday April 12th at 1:20 CT/2:20 ET at which time your rosters will lock and the Live Scoreboard will be available.

The contest runs on Friday using Friday’s games, so you just have to sign up and have your team set by then.

Sign up now for free. Build a team, then check out the LIVE scoreboard when the games start on Friday, April 12, and watch your team win you cash. Or watch your team fall to mine (“acecubbie”). It’s that easy, and it is a lot fun.

The sooner you sign up, the more time you’ll have to tinker with your lineup, which is a big part of what makes this so much fun. Just putting it out there. So, you know, sign up today.

*Note, because of the exclusivity, only folks who sign up for DraftStreet via Bleacher Nation (either this year or last year) can participate in this particular contest. If you signed up for DraftStreet via another method (another site, for example), you can still participate in a free contest, it just won’t be this particular free one. You’ll see what I mean when you sign in. If you aren’t permitted into this contest and you think that’s an error (i.e., you DID originally sign up for DraftStreet via Bleacher Nation), just send me an email and we’ll get it straightened out (brett AT bleachernation DOT com).

Another note: residents of some States are not eligible to play, so if you’re blocked out for that reason, my most humble apologies.

“…and I say showdown, because you better believe I’m playing, too…”

    Self-plagiarist.

FWIW, I much prefer this salary-cap style one-day league, rather than that other kind that happened a couple of times last season.

  5. RIck

I’m in! Is it bad that i looked for pitchers that will be pitching against the cubs this week?

    Are Canadians eligible to play/win?

This ain’t the First BN Fantasy Curling Contest, kid!

No shit, I have to clean my igloo now and skin that seal too.

        1. TWC

          Larf.

Make sure you club the seal good and hard before you try to skin it.

I have better luck if the seal is still kinda half-flopping around. Not as much dead weight then and once you get the hang of it, the seal kinda helps you out. Very considerate of them.

I would strongly encourage you to get a Fatso (also available in a double and triple) at Phil’s Last Stand at 2258 West Chicago Avenue the next time you’re in town.

  8. Featherstone

I’ve been to Phil’s last stand a couple times and the burgers are good, but if you want to talk about burgers in Chicago, Kuma’s Corner and Kuma’s Too are the place to go. The wait is a bit long but the food is well worth it. Best burgers in the city, hands down.

So I signed up, but wont let me put money in or withdraw anything, but can play free leagues. Does that mean I wont be able to play?

    1. HCS

Just go to the free BN league, you don’t need funds. It should be in the sidebar if you signed up through the link.

I’m like 0-4 on these damn things. Hopefully I crack the top 25 this time. Maybe If I have lilibridge lead off my lineup ill have better luck

Marylanders can join these now! Hooray! I have another avenue for public humiliation! Yippee!

My strategy was to load up on players playing terrible teams. If Houston’s starter pulls off a fluke no-hitter, I’m sunk.
