wrigley field from right bleachersThe Cubs and Rangers will try again today, but it’s still pouring and nasty. Very few expect this one to get off on time, if it gets off at all. So, I guess stay tuned as the day goes on – this one might end up becoming a night game. MLB isn’t going to be keen on postponing this one after last night’s rainout – making up one interleague game is tough enough, and two could be a real headache.

Carlos Villanueva is still starting for the Cubs, but the Rangers are going to bump Justin Grimm – *the* Justin Grimm – in favor of today’s scheduled starter, Alexi Ogando.

Brett, should the cubs pick up Borbon if possible?

    • brickhouse

Cubs have no need for Borbon

      • wvcubsfan

Cubs fans on the other hand…………..

  • http://www.survivingthalia.com Mike Taylor (no relation)

If they do, he’ll have to sign a minor league deal. The only way he gets playing time is after the trade deadline. Assuming we can trade Soriano, it’ll be:

    LF Jackson
    CF Borbon
    RF Sweeney

    • brickhouse

What happened to Dejesus & Schierholtz ? The Cubs will not have an OF of Jackson/Borbon/Sweeney. That could be a AAA of but not a major league starting OF.

      • hansman1982

You’re not mentally prepared for the August and September Cubs, are you?

        • Koyie Hill Sucks

It’s going to be similar to last year’s September/October team, in other words, pretty much the same team…

          • willis

In other words, zero improvement, more steps backwards. Hooray!

          • hansman1982

Plus Edwin Jackson, Scott Baker, Vizcaino, Villanueva, Watkins, Sweeney and whomever we get back at the deadline. So the same team, except 25% of them (plus bullpen arms).

    • Koyie Hill Sucks

I don’t think we will Jackson starting with the ML club this year, unless he really turns it around.

    • arta

lol, Mike I don’t think so.

  • paul

the last place cubs need to wait till next year

    • TWC

Did you just say “wait ’til next year”?

      • DarthHater

Head Knight: Don’t say that word!
        King Arthur: What word?
Head Knight: I cannot tell! Suffice to say, is one of the words the Knights of Ni cannot hear!
King Arthur: How can we not say the word if you don’t tell us what it is?
        Knights: Aaaaugh! Aaaugh!
        King Arthur: What,”is”?
Head Knight: No, no, not “is”. Wouldn’t get very far in life not saying “is”.

      • EQ76

I vote we change it to “Wait ‘Til Next Century”

        • hansman1982

I’ll go with “Wait ‘Til Next Species”!

    Bruce Miles ‏@BruceMiles2112 10m
No Kane County for Garza. Weather and field concerns. Sim game in Milwaukee instead. #Cubs

    • Dynastyin2016

why wouldn’t they send him to Daytona or somewhere else that the weather is better? Sim game is noting more than a bullpen session.

  • Bleacherbum

Why do you say “The Justin Grimm”?

  • cubmig

I think we should all be the Boston Cubs—Boston Rangers— Boston Marlins and so on today—-just we’ve all been “#42″. …………….just a thought………..

  • cubmig

    opps….”just like we’ve been “#42″—

  • Kygavin

At least Borbon has a little upside. Id be ok with him on a minor league deal and a call up after DeJesus/Nate get dealt

  • Dan

Just thinking about it since Theo and Ricketts have come on the scene there best pick up was probalably been DeJesus………..

  • Kyle

I still think they get this game in somehow.

  • corey costello

Man, there’s like 200 people at the Cubs game.

  • http://thenewenthusiast.com dw8

    CASTRO WALKS!

    • DarthHater

      ON FOUR PITCHES!!

      • Dynastyin2016

        semi-intentional? to get to rizzo?

  • willis

Dude, that play that just happened sums up this season and the Cubs franchise as a hole. Just bad luck, even when trying to do right. Sigh…

  • willis

    “whole”

  • unccubsfan

Has Castro been on base every time Rizzo has homered this season?

    • DarthHater

Not sure, but I think maybe so.

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

      Great question. Feels like yes.

  • DarthHater

As a pessimistic, paranoid Cubs fan, I think the 5-0 lead guarantees that this game will get rained out before it’s official. :-P

    • Dale’s Ear

Damn you’re right, I knew two walks from Castro was too good to be true…

  • LouBrown

Have to agree Darth. That is just typical Cubs, snatching defeat (or in the case a do-over) from the hands of victory.
