Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Brewers (1:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc.

miller parkWe’re about 1/10th of the way through the season, which is early, but the Cubs don’t look like much of a contender so far. Hell, they don’t look like a team that has a reasonable chance to sniff .500 all year. It was to be expected, but it’s still disappointing.

Scott Feldman returns to the rotation today after a brief hiatus. He’s looking for his first good start of the year, and I really hope he gets it today. The Cubs could stand for him to get on a roll, together with the rest of the rotation. It’s the one bright spot right now.

Prediction: 2 errors, 3 unearned runs and 0-8 with risp…

    1. Jason P

You got 2 of the 3 so far. Unfortunately our offense isn’t good enough to get 8 chances with runners in scoring position. But you did get the 0-fer right, so maybe that counts as 2 1/2 out of 3.

  2. Rich

    Nah
    Cubs win today
Maybe a little fire under their butt from Dale

  3. willis

    2.111 whip? LOL. Nice Feldman.

  4. Idaho Razorback

Can’t wait for the EBS and to see what Scott Volstad does.

  5. Bill

Not expected to win. What do you root for?

  6. Korean Goat

Top defensive player branden philips of reds even makes a error now! so i expect cubs to win today!!

    1. MichiganGoat

      Great point goat ;)

      1. MightyBear

Hey MG, is that your Korean cousin? You both need to keep your heads on straight.

  7. Bill

Not expected to win. Let’s root for better minor league development. Or, how about a better position in next year’s draft. Or, how about trade able short term players to trade at the deadline.

    Lol

  8. Internet Random

If only we spent more money, we could be doing as well as the Dodgers.

    1. Dynastyin2016

Or the Angels. That would make Kyle happy.

      1. Internet Random

Even hookers dipped in chocolate and cocaine could not make Kyle happy.

        1. MichiganGoat

A true LOL and another thing added to the bucket list ;)

        3. willis

that sounds like a fun night in Montreal.

        4. Hawkeye

Yeah- I guess the difference is I expect the Dodgers to turn it around sometime relatively soon. I don’t see this with the Cubs.

        5. DarthHater

I’d love to find an appropriate image to post for this, but I’m at work and … well … I don’t think the search would be prudent. :-P

  9. Die hard

    Flip Soriano with Castillo

    1. Dynastyin2016

Die Hard, if we did that Soriano would never see a fastball again. EVER.

  10. Die hard

Castro sacrifices power for contact… He needs to build upper body with 20 lbs of muscle or lose 20 lbs of that fat starting to show around his middle and decide what type of hitter he wants to be

  11. nosup4u

    RIZZZOMG

  12. Timothy Scarbrough

Castro’s streak is up to 13 games, I wonder how long he keeps this up.

    1. Dynastyin2016

      Errors or hits?

      1. Timothy Scarbrough

Ha! To be fair, he hasn’t committed an error yet today.

  13. AB

Bruce Miles with some great tweets so far today

  14. morgan

Dale took this job knowing that they prob wernt going to win in a few years, I just wonder if he knew that theo n Jed were going to put so many bums out there to play. There were plenty of guys out there who you could of got a 1 year deal with. Its like there not going after any legit outfielders b/c of soler and almora. All im am saying is that these dudes that they have basically putting there jobs on the line better be stars.

  15. morgan

All I am saying is that the Cubs better be competitive next year, and be at least in the playoff hunt at the all-star break, b/c this waiting for the prospect to mature and putting bum after bum out there isn’t cutting it. Cubs right now have 3 maybe 4 players that would start for the rest of the league and the rest would struggle for a bench spot

    1. X The Cubs Fan

      Lmfao… I hate you.

  17. another JP

We’d be better off with Marty Feldmann pitching instead of Scott. What a mess.

  18. Rebuilding

Who didn’t see that Braun home run coming? I don’t care if it puts the go ahead run I to scoring position, I think you pitch around the only bat that can hurt you in the lineup

  19. RY34

Way to pitch to Braun you stupid fucks. The fix has to be in because no
Manager and team could be this fucking stupid!

    1. willis

Uh, yes they can be. Sveum over and over has proven he’s incompetent of managing shit. He’s awful in games, and by what we see in games, he’s an awful teacher too.

Should have yanked him after his dumbass error, but Sveum always leaves Feldman in a batter or two too long. And when he does, he allows him to pitch to a guy that will burn him instead of taking chances with Weeks. Absolutely ignorant.

  20. another JP

Really. Pitch around the bottom half of the order the previous inning, walking three hitters, and then pitch to the league MVP with a sub .200 hitter on deck. REAL SMART.

  21. Ramy16

God.. Watching us play is making me wanna throw up! Quit bitching about balls and strikes and play some fucking baseball already

  22. Rebuilding

I know we’re bad. I know it doesnt matter, but I swear Sveum has cost us at least 3 games this year

    1. RY34

It does matter though, no excuse for this shitty embarrassing kind of play. Nobody expects us to win the division but damn play with some brains and heart both of which are severely lacking on this god forsaken team.

      1. willis

Every game matters. You play and manage to win. He manages to show off players, not to win.

        1. Rebuilding

Oh, I agree. But we have to lose these games as the Marlins and Astros are going to provide some real competition for the #1 pick. It’s all part of the plan

          1. RY34

I will bet we finish w the worst record in baseball and the number one pick. Book it

  23. X The Cubs Fan

I fucking hate Paul Sullivan and sarcastic tweets. I also hate Dale Svuem all of a sudden.

    1. Bric

Well, at least I’m not alone. I know most Cub fans can’t stand the Cards but I’ve always said the Brewers are worse. I lived in northern Wisconsin for the worst year of my life. Arrogant, obnoxious fans who don’t remember when the Brewers were in the AL, that Braun actually started as an infielder or that Ben Sheets was on the Olympic team (“Ben who?”).

But the fact that this is a 1-8 team when not playing the Cubs is inexcusable. Wasn’t Sveum Braun’s hitting coach? Shouldn’t he know how to pitch Weeks, Braun, and the rest better than anybody? Apparently not. But he never seems too worked up every time the Cubs tank to the Brewers, which has been a lot the last two years.

  24. Dynastyin2016

Can’t wait to get Garza back. For his defense!

  25. Alex

Gordon wittenmeyer just wrote a piece taking sveums comments and suggesting the cubs could send down rizzo and Castro….what a guy

    1. Whiteflag

I’d be surprised if its all just talk in an attempt to light a fire under their ass.

  26. Jason P

Time for the fake rally… who’s ready?

  27. Westbound Willie

Kind off like sorianos wife’s fake organism?

    1. DarthHater

      smh

  28. Bill

Can’t you feel the excitement of building it the right way?

Poor season ticket holders. Wrigley is going to be a ghost town by August.

  29. DarthHater

Good. Might be able to get an early start on renovating the grandstand while games are still under way. :-P
