great american ballparkNothing like facing a dominant team on the road to cure what ails ya!

Travis Wood has been great this year, but he’ll face a strong Reds lineup tonight (though a lot of that strength is on the left side of the plate).

“The Reds are good at baseball, which could be a problem for the Cubs.”

    XD

  • mudge

close game till the 7th, eh?

  • Die hard

The same lineup over and over and over and over again ad infinitum is insanity

    • Mrp

This lineup hasn’t performed all that badly. It’s the lineup against lefties that has been atrocious thus far.

    • Timothy Scarbrough

Well, really, you would hope they would have a left handed, and right handed lineup (which they do), and other then that be pretty static.

  • Die hard

Seriously put Barney at lead off for ten games and Cubs will win 6 of those

    • Timothy Scarbrough

It is possible, but it would not be because they are leading off with Barney. Leading off with Barney would hurt their chances of being over .500 over the stretch.

      • Die hard

He will find a way to get on twice a game scratching and clawing via walk hit hbp or other

        • Timothy Scarbrough

I’ve never understood how people can just blatantly ignore numbers.

          • Die hard

            DeJesus is not cutting it

            • demz

              huh?

the guy is getting on base with regularity.

            • DarthHater

Maybe we can just feed DeJesus some of this:

              • Jp3

Wow😃. Love we’re still talking about belly fire… Let me ask you this, is BF% measured on the Scoville scale?

                • DarthHater

You can’t measure belly fire. You just know in your gut that some guys got it and some guys ain’t. :-P

                  • Jp3

Bullsh!t!!! Doc, any idea if there is a way we could get a process for measuring BF%????!?!!

                    • DarthHater

Well said. You got some fire in your belly there, son. ;-)

        • DarthHater

          DeJesus OBP: .355 career, .356 in 2013
          Barney OBP: .303 career, .158 in 2013

Die hard BHP: 1.000 career, 1.000 in 2013

Glossary: BHP = Bone Head Percentage

          • Die hard

Put your shoe back on– banging the table Kruschev style is out of fashion- and bringing up Barney’s 2013 stats is laughable – comparing lifetime shows not much sunlight between them and if you like DeJesus against righties then you will like Barney against lefties

            • DarthHater

Speaking of laughable, to suggest that 52 points of career OBP is “not much sunlight” is almost as much of a complete joke as is your incessant andunvarying disregard for the simplest facts.

Your initial comment suggested putting Barney at lead-off for 10 games. You said nothing about only having him lead off against lefties. Even after your attempt to shift the terms of discussion, however, your assertions still are belied by the facts. Barney’s career OBP against lefties is .310. DeJesus’ career OBP against lefties is .325. Yes, 15 points of OBP is less “sunlight” than 52 points. So I’ll grant you that choosing Barney over DeJesus to lead off against lefties would be somewhat less stupid than choosing him to lead off against righties as well. Congratulations on reducing the level of stupidity.

              • MichiganGoat

Belly Fire does not need truth… Duh

                • DarthHater

Oh, go eat your horny goat weed… :-P

    • Drew7

Yeah, I’m *sure* his scrappy-factor will produce enough runs to make up for that career- .303 OBP.

  • Dustin S

I started looking over the 2014 draft pool this afternoon. Is that a bad sign 3 weeks into April?

    • Jp3

      Jonathan Gray😝

    • Featherstone

Carlos Rodon your our only hope.

    • Marc N

      Tyler Beede ftw.

    • Dynastyin2016

Hell, I’ve been scoreboard watching for 2 weeks now. Go Houston and San Diego! And Miami?

  • Jp3

Wooooohooooooo!!!! I just found out I actually get the random CSN Chicago station on my ATT UVerse package!!! I pay an additional $7 a month for nfl red zone and nfl network and random CSN Chicago is lumped in with this package. Ahhh Monday night, such a low bar to get excited.

    • King Jeff

Mind if I ask which part of the country you live in? I have Comcast and they offer every other major cities’ sports network besides Chicago. ATT is an option for me, but I can’t get a straight answer from them on what type of regional sports packages I can get.

      • Jp3

I live in Atlanta and I totally just stumbled on my surprise that it was even an option. I ordered NFL red zone when I first had it installed and it comes with csn Bay Area, can California and csn Chicago… Seems very random but I’ll take the breaks where I can get them

        • King Jeff

I got the same deal here in south Florida, except I get all of the east coast networks as well, just nothing from Chicago, or the rest of the Midwest, come to think of it. I have been thinking of switching for a while, so this might be the boot that gets me out the door.

  • Whiteflag

Kaplan is going on an on about Sveum’s comments to send Rizzo and Castro down.

    • demz

he didn’t even say he wanted to send Rizzo and Castro down.

  • Jp3

I love uverse, what provider do you have? I’ve had direct tv, Comcast, dishnet the last decade and the best customer service has easily been dish and AT&T. I even have their wireless and it’s not bad.

    • King Jeff

I have Comcast and they’re pure garbage for customer service, and ridiculously expensive compared to others. I can’t get a dish unless I get renter’s insurance and give my apartment complex a hefty deposit, otherwise I would still have dishnetwork. Comcast was my only choice for a long time, but ATT recently stepped in, so I am probably switching.

      • Jp3

Omg I HATE Comcast. I’ll try to make a long story short but before I had uverse I had Comcast. I moved to a new townhouse and when Comcast came to set up they brought me the wrong receiver box…. 3 times (twice by mail!!!). I told them to just refund my 1st month come get your garbage equipment that doesn’t work and we’ll call it even. They came to get their junk and 2 DAYS LATER I got a bill for $967 for unreturned equipment!!! LOL!!! 5 phone calls/4 hours later I got it straight but its laughable how much I hated those guys at the end of that. I have the email and phone number of the AT&T tech that installed my equipment and can talk to someone immediately from customer service when there is a problem(rarely ever). If you have any question about AT&T uverse let me know.

      • Jp3

NOOOOOOO!!!!! The flipping bulls game has bumped the cubs off CSN!!! Why do they do that??? The playoffs are on TNT already?

  • Crockett

Gotta love Dusty continuing to put Cozart in the #2 hole. The White Neifi!!

  • JR

I have a feeling there is a good chance Choo may be in Cubs uniform next year even with draft comp tied to him.

    • Whiteflag

      He’d be an interesting grab.

      • JR

That dude gets on base like it’s his job. He’s even been hit by a pitch 9 times this year. He’s exactly, the type of guy the Cubs need in their lineup..

        • Drew7

I mean, it kinda *is* his job…

  • http://Yes Dude

These reds announcers are complaining how Phillips got robbed of the GG. Said Barney had a terrible year behind the plate.

    • Whiteflag

Because the golden glove is about hitting? (even though it usually plays a role in selection)

    • Jp3

He would’ve had a terrible year behind the plate if he was a catcher….

    • cubzfan23

When will idiots realize it is a defensive stat. Well it should be… And who are the dumbheads who keep thinking it should be about offense too.

      • Whiteflag

Probably never. There is a chance if the selection committee makes a few “barney like” selections the next couple years.

  • cubzfan23

I love when Wood pitches. He is never an easy out. I remember that about him when he was in cincinnati.

    • http://Isa Voice of reason

He is never an easy out? Are you talking about his hitting ability or his pitching ability?

      • Whiteflag

I’d guess hitting. T. Wood handles the bat well. He’s an all-around athlete: pitching, fielding, hitting unlike a lot of pitchers.

  • Can’t think of a cool name

What a play by Castro, if only he could play defense.

  • cubzfan23

    Here goes the lead…

  • Can’t think of a cool name

I’m going to remain positive if it kills me. Okay here comes a double play.

  • http://www.survivingthalia.com Mike Taylor (no relation)

That fan reached out and messed with the trajectory of the ball! Schierholtz had that.

    • Jp3

Did he have headphones and glasses on and look like a goofball?

      • Whiteflag

Bartman didn’t lose that game. The cubs did with those two errors.

        • DarthHater

Oh, yeah. Let’s start this conversation again…

          • Whiteflag

I’m sorry. I feel bad for the guy. Life-long cubs fan did what many others would do (including others at the game he wasn’t the only one with his hand out). Then he gets shit thrown at him, and helicopters hovering his house the next day.

            • Jp3

Only kidding guys, gotta keep it light when you’re going to lose 100 games 2 years in a row.

  • DarthHater

Marmol’s in. This shouldn’t take long.

    • Jp3

Awesome Darth, you hit Marmol with the reverse jinx😁. He doesn’t really blow games when it’s tied he only does it when we have a 3 run lead or less😃

      • Whiteflag

Oh no…don’t reverse the reverse jinx. He still has to pitch another inning!!

      • DarthHater

My reverse jinx was working great and you’re spoiling it, man! :-P

        • Whiteflag

If they lose, I am sending a helicopter to his house and TPing his house. :)

          • DarthHater

I can’t hear you. I’ve got my headphones on. :-D

            • Jp3

I think we need a pic from you following that pitch sequence of Harry Doyle in Major League 2 with meme that says “you’re gonna walk Beck to get to Parkman??, obviously he’s thinking…. I don’t know what the hell he’s thinning!!”

          • Jp3

            I deserve it😞💩👎

        • Jp3

Oh no!! I’m sorry guys, thought for sure he wouldn’t throw 2 innings! Sveum is trying for a quadruple team parlay with marmol being the last to go, how many people win quadruple team parlays?😄🔫

      • DarthHater

Now I have to reverse the reversal of the reverse jinx: Marmol is not even worth the space he occupies! ;-)

        • Whiteflag

Its too late. This game is over.

          • Whiteflag

Game is still over. Gregg is up in the pen :(

            • Jp3

Single by Barney, the belly fire force is strong with this one…

              • Whiteflag

Yeah, but Dejesus has zero fire in his belly. Remember

                • Jp3

Yeah he has low BF% for sure..

                  • Whiteflag

We really need to start a take ” A take bottle of Fire Belly” to the game trend. Maybe it will be good luck :)

                    • Jp3

                      I’m in🔥🔥🔥🔥

            • DarthHater

Way to work the reverse jinx on Gregg! :-D

              • Whiteflag

I’ve been reverse jinxing my little heart out. Where do we purchase fire belly?

                • Jp3

We can put fire balls like this next to there name in the box scores:

                  DeJesus🔥
                  Castro💩
                  Rizzo🔥🔥
                  Sori🔥
                  Barney🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
                  Hairston💩👎

                • DarthHater

                  Belly Shack on Western. :-D

  • cub123

Whiteflag i feel the same way you do. Especially when no one talk about the rest of the game or the rest of the games.

    • http://401klogic.net Westbound Willie

      Waht?

      • Jp3

        Alex Gonzalez sucks…

        Next

  • Jeff

Can’t wait for Ian Stewart to return, ugly swing by Valbuena

  • caryatid62

Of the last 115 innings the Cubs have played, they’ve scored runs in less than 20 of them.

  • Jason

Castro flailing at a ball a foot low in a 3-2 count with the bases loaded. When will he learn. Too bad every Cub can’t have the same approach as Dejesus

  • Jp3

Who all saw this coming, 2 scoreless innings from marmol and one by Gregg??? Everyone is probably adding them to the one day fantasy teams this friday😄

    • Whiteflag

I just want you to know, I have my flight path cleared with Air Traffic Control and the heli is prepped for departure.

      • Jp3

In all fairness how long can we expect to hold their offense with our bullpen? Our offense are the ones blowing this game

        • Whiteflag

          You’re lucky :)

          • DarthHater

Whiteflag’s chopper just did a hard landing. Blackhawk down!!! :-P

            • Whiteflag

It’s not down yet. This would be the ultimate heart-breaker.

              • Jp3

Who’s closing, all our stud closers(marmol🔥🔥🔥 Gregg🔥🔥) have pitched already???

                • Whiteflag

Bowden is trying really hard to lose it.

              • Jp3

I hear the heli getting primed for takeoff again

                • Whiteflag

                  Way to go!!!!!!!!!

                  • Whiteflag

Oops…I read that wrong. My bad.

                  • Jp3

You won’t find me, I’m crawling under a rock as we speak😪

          • Jp3

That was my quadruple reverse reverse jinx😁 have a little faith whiteflag

  • http://Bleachernation.com Ramy16

I really like what Shierholtz has done so far for the Cubs! I still would like to see what Borbon can do.. Why in the hell can’t Dale give him a shot at Center

    • Jason

      Because Dejesus has been great

  • Jason

Our future rotation: Samardzija Garza Appel Rodon [insert 2015 1st overall pick]

    • Whiteflag

      Jackson going to be traded?

      • Jason

Gotta figure the 2015 1st overall pick won’t be up until at least 2017. Jackson’s contract will be up.

        • Whiteflag

Okay, I get what you are saying. I thought you meant the future 2015 rotation.

    • Jp3

So we lose our high 2014 pick that we’re developing this season???

      • Jason

No thats Carlos Rodon, likely 2014 1st overall pick.

        • Jp3

Ha, awesome, I follow now. I’m still hoping we pick Appel this draft then Gray returns for his season and we get him next year😊

          • Jason

Haha yeah, we can only hope. Problem is, if Gray returns for his senior season, the Astros are probably drafting Appel.

            • Jp3

Good point, we can always take Meadows or Sean M(sp?). Other than we had to suck the year before to get the high pick, you’re always assured a high potential/talent

  • http://Bleachernation.com Ramy16

There’s the ball game.. Dale just brought in Bowden

  • Jp3

    Damn, we don’t get a high 2014 pick???? 😃

  • DarthHater

    Belly Fire on deck! :-D

    • Jp3

      Valbuena FB% 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

  • DarthHater

    VALBUENA!!!

  • Jason

I don’t really get the howling noise
