marlins home run sculptureOnly five more in a row to get back to .500 …

For all of the snark, a four-game sweep on the road is an accomplishment by any team against any team. Although it wouldn’t surprise you to see, for example, the Braves take four out of four in Miami, you’d still think to yourself, “that’s pretty good, even if the Marlins are very bad.” So, we should think the same thing about the Cubs: if they can complete the sweep today, it’s impressive.

It won’t be easy, though, as the Marlins finally offer up a legitimate – if not above average – big league starter in Ricky Nolasco. The Cubs haven’t exactly lit up the Marlins’ other starters in this series, so it’s possible Nolasco, a former Cubs farmhand, could hold them down.

Fortunately the Cubs counter with The Stache, who’s looking to extend his ridiculous start to the 2013 season (and to keep pace with Travis Wood in consecutive quality starts).

We are getting blown out today, I’m pretty certain of it. Just feels like a really bad game for us.

    • Cyranojoe

Villaneuva? Nope. He’s not due for a down game yet, and it ain’t coming against these guys.

Would’ve been a good day to rest regulars?

These Marlins games are a bit depressing to watch. I feel like I’m watching an old Montreal Expos game. I’d hate to see the stands later in the season when they’re 30 games back.

The best part of the series was on I think Rizzo’s home run when it landed near the only 2 guys in a section and they barely bothered to get up to get the ball.

The batting average for all of baseball is .250.

No way Loe should have been out there for a second inning. He got hit hard in his first inning of work.

Cubs just need to let Soriano go, hes doing nothing for this team in the 4th spot, and I see him doing nothing later on, Boy Theo sure does know how to ruin a season, can tell he just wants the draft picks, by putting AAAA players out there with no bullpen, he knows they cant compete with this roster and continues to do nothing about it, JUST TRADE SORIANO OR RELEASE HIM NOW!!!!!!!! Theo and Jed are now on the list of ppl I want to punch in the face

IIRC, Soriano didn’t homer until May 15 last year. His HR total last year ended up pretty solid. Breathe…it’s still early.

Not mention Sveum has shown nothing in that he can coach, continues to fail in tight games situations, They think theres pressure when your under 500 with no expectations just wait till some players in here and its Augest and September when there in the playoff hunt, these bums are going to piss down there pants and will then know what its like not to be wanted in Chicago

    • Hansman1982

Fairly certain the Cubs had won 3 straight close games before today’s loss.

  • morgan

hmm be a tie game if we had a bullpen, but Svuem leaves Loe out there for 2 innings to get rocked, where does Theo and Jed keep finding these bums, he was released by a terrible team earlier why in the world would you want him,,,, GUESS BUMS RECOGNIZE BUMS

We’re just not seeing quality AB’s throughout the game. There’s simply no reason we shouldn’t score 5 runs on the Marlins in any of the 4 games.

-Soriano threw to the wrong base. Ugh
-HR King with a sinker that doesn’t sink Kameron Loe gets hit hard every appearence
-Hector Rondon continues to be woefully underused
-Nice to see Castro get that knock early on
-Valbuena went 0-4 but hit it hard twice. Nice to see.
-Did we seriously let the 1 legitimate MLB hitter the Marlins have beat us? I guess you can’t pitch around him every time, but he got a ton of good pitches to hit
