Quantcast

wrigley field from right bleachersLast time out, Edwin Jackson kinda-sorta out-dueled Stephen Strasburg. So maybe out-dueling Matt Harvey today isn’t out of the question.

Truth be told, I just can’t wait to see the young man throw against the Cubs.

I needed baseball yesterday, so I watched the Mets beat the Deadbirds. Deadbirds played a bit like a minor league team. Also a very unusual play in that game was when a fly ball hit to right landed in the slot of the gate out there. deadbird right fielder put up his armsm but the ball was nowhere to be found. A weird play. Incidently Mets won.

    Watching Castro today.

  • @cubsfantroy

If Castro and Rizzo don’t hit three home runs a piece today I say trade them to any team that will take them. The bums!

    /sarcasm

If you’ve never seen Harvey yet, he is a pure treat to watch and would recommend watching. I live in NY so I get all the Mets games, but only watch when he is pitching

  • willis

Ballgame. Cubs aren’t scoring off this dude and already down 1-0. That was a BLAST from Wright.

    • TWC

      Yeah.

      You were saying?

Ballgame? 2 runs scored, a lot of baseball left to play.

  • DarthHater

Nothing to do with the Cubs, but here’s Today’s News For Eight-Year-Olds:

Actual headline: “Scientists Study Violent Winds of Uranus”

Actual text from article: “Screaming winds of infernal violence alternate with periods of dead calm as one nears the surface of Uranus…”

Gee, it’s fun to be immature.

Best part of that inning. Harvey threw 25!

  • ssckelley

Castro seems to have this guy figured out. He is 2-2 so far.

And that folks is Edwin Jackson in a nutshell. Pitches a good game and then gives up a hit to the pitcher to potentially lose by a run. Brett, why the heck was Soriano playing that deep against the pitcher with the wind blowing in?

    • Rebuilding

That was supposed to be “btw” not “Brett”. Strange spellcheck

    That was filthy.

What was David Bell doing? Ik the Cubs have had their problems with RISP and I’m all for being aggressive, but that wasn’t even close.

heart of the order coming up as well.

EJax pitched a good game, but it was not enough for the cubs to beat the mets ace. Harvey had a rough first inning but from there the cubs could not score another run. A tough loss for EJax. Surprisingly the cubs did not lose this game with Team RISP ave. they were 2-3 today. They just could not start up a rally and the wind knocked all those deep flyballs down. Castro had the best game on the hitters side going 2-4. Rizzo stays hot with another double, but the rest of the lineup stayed quiet. On the good side, the cubs had good ABs most of the game, but the ball kept finding gloves. Hopefully tomorrow those balls start to find the stands or some open green. The bullpen pitched well keeping the cubs in it as well. Russell and Fujikawa both had 2 k’s in little work. My shoutout today goes to Starlin Castro for putting together a good day at the plate. Lastly, I wonder if the Mets are doin the Byrd today? Dang you Marlon Byrd.
