This Friday is our $300 one-day fantasy baseball contest (with a tasty prize pool of $300), and I just set my lineup (for now).

Normally I only tease you with a couple of my players. I mean, I don’t want you copying my entire brilliant strategy. But … I haven’t exactly done well in the last several of these, so I’m throwing caution to the wind. Behold, it’s the lineup that’s going to crush you on Friday:

I reserve the right to change this lineup as their performances change in the next couple days, as weather forecasts are updated, and as my gut tells me. I’m pretty pleased with the group, though the pitching decisions were quite difficult in this one. Of course, when you have the opportunity to pick players facing the Astros, that makes part of the decision easier.

I didn’t take any Cubs in this one (I think Scott Feldman was the only option), but I do like to include someone from the Cubs’ game just to keep things interesting. I don’t really think Jay Bruce is going to have a great game, nor do I particularly want him to hit a couple bombs off of Feldman. But now if he does, at least I get some points.

If you haven’t yet created your team or signed up for the contest, get on it. You’ve got until Friday evening when the games start. Full details on the contest here.

Pretty sure I matched your Millone & Goldschmidt. I tend to select players that my fantasy rival has going that day to hedge my bets. I also tend to pick guys going against the Cubs for the same reasons.

Brett – I know you do the one-day fantasies quite often and they seem like fun… For those of us that haven’t ever played fantasy baseball, how about a quick run down on rules, regs, and what have yous??

This’ll do you a lot better than I can: http://www.draftstreet.com/rules.aspx

For ours, you pick a lineup, and see what happens on Friday. That’s truly pretty much it.

I know right, the Iowa BNer’s would kick Brett and TWC’s butt in this contest.

        ::rolls eyes::

Okay, kid, listen here. Gimme a call when you get out of your house arrest and we can talk about non-Iowa places for you to — ahem — *broaden* your horizons a bit, mkay?

And, really, just forget Hansman. Old boy’s totally lost on this.

I’m getting closer I’ve been moved to a half way house in the suburbs. And yes lets “broaden” the horizons.

          • TWC

Iowa has ‘-urbs’ that require ‘sub’s?

            • miggy80

We even have a battleship that’s docked in L.A. and if I ever make it out there I get in for free!

  • Austin

This is my first fantasy contest. I’m pretty pumped about it.

    How many people usually participate?

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

It’s a pretty wide range – it’s usually in the hundreds, though.

  • Bilbo161

    Ok, I’m in.

  • Thad

Matched you on three, Brett. A couple of tough choices in there.

  • SHarmon

Solid lineup for a season. The trouble is we have no idea what will happen on Friday. Good luck but hopefully not as much luck as me come Friday!

  • Lukobravo

    I’ll place again : )
