Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Reds (12:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc.

great american ballparkIt’s a hell of a pitching matchup today … assuming both guys are healthy. Matt Garza goes for the second time for the Cubs, and he’ll be permitted to throw a much more normal number of pitches, so long as he’s not struggling.

The Cubs are looking to avoid being swept for the second straight series.

Game Info

Chicago Cubs (18-30) at Cincinnati Reds (31-18), 12:10 CT on CSN.

  1. Die hard

I just don’t get Sveum… He’s too young to have dementia

  2. CeeDeeVee5811

Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna FINALLY win today????

  3. Cheryl

What other manager would have a player go 3 for 4, then 2 for 3 and then play another player in his stead because of matchups? Sveum is almost automatic in terms of his moves.

    1. DocPeterWimsey

These days, most of them. After all, the reason why the guy went 3-4 and 2-3 in the prior two games was because of favorable matchups.

  4. Die hard

I would’ve played Sweeney and sit DeJesus

    1. Voice of Reason

Your complaining about starting Sweeney over dejesus.

That’s what a person has to complain about when you’re dealing with a team that will lose 100 plus games. Very sad.

      But, they’re working on it.

      1. nkniacc13

Sweeney will start soon enough after the Cubs start trading

        1. Voice of Reason

The sad truth is dejesus and Sweeney have to play because we have no minor league outfielders ready to step up and play everyday.

Instead were stuck with two bums in dejesus and Sweeney.

Just shows how bad of a general manager hendry was.

  5. willis

Garza looks ok, but this pitch count is getting way up there already. Need some quick outs, but Reds taking a good approach thus far.

  6. willis

And there you go…but still 42 through 2.

    1. Die hard

Reds well schooled how to make a pitcher work-/- Cubs not so much… and Garza is such a head case that doesn’t take long to get him to lose cool

  7. Tyler

Matchups are good when you are winning…we are not. Just put the players that are playing well out on the field. Most of the platoons this year have not done we’ll (hairston, ransom) anyway. Frustration is settling in with me with sveum even though I know we aren’t a good baseball team.

    1. Joe

i agree with you 110%. Very frustrated with Sveum’s guidance

  8. Die hard

Garza losing leverage for future contracts

  9. willis

Question-does it bother anyone that more times than not, this dude doesn’t even where a uniform? At this point I’m just picking because I despise him, but that kinda irks me.

  10. unccubsfan

Got home just in time to watch Soriano go deep!

  11. Rebuilding

Damn, Josh Donaldson is blowing up this year 322/398/544. Looks like we had our 3b of the future

  12. Die hard

    Comeback would be nice

  13. Carmelo

Saw that in today’s DH for Iowa, Vitters didn’t play in the 1st game, and not in line-up for 2nd game. Is he on the way to the Cubs to face the White Sox and their 3 LHSP ? Also, great win today.

    1. Kyle

He’s been dealing with a quad strain.

    2. Dustin S

I noticed that Stewart played 1B yesterday too, on a minor note. His average has been going up a bit too.

Good comeback today, and the HR by Soriano and quiet inning by Marmol were a plus. Too bad about Fujikawa though. It probably puts Villanueva squarely in the setup role at least for now.

  14. willis

Looks like Fuji going back on the shelf with a forearm strain. Two in one season cannot be a good sign. Great comeback and win other than that news.

  15. Die hard

    5 BB – 4 K = 1 win

  16. Corey

Cueto throwing at Dejesus raged me. That’s Bush league shit, grow up Johnny Cueto.
