Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. White Sox (7:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc.

us cellular fieldThe Cubs sent their ace to the mound last night, and he did ace-y things. Tonight, the White Sox counter with their ace, Chris Sale.

The Cubs go with Edwin Jackson, who, well, you know the story: we’re looking for him to turn in a beginning-to-end solid start.

Dioner Navarro is the Cubs’ DH tonight, which … well, it’s not a deep right-handed bench when Scott Hairston and Cody Ransom are already in the lineup.

Game Info

Chicago Cubs (20-30) at Chicago White Sox (24-25), 7:10 CT on WCIU (and CSN for White Sox broadcast).

According to the tribune, Vizcaino is having arthroscopic surgery on his elbow to remove calcium buildup.

  3. fromthemitten

Weird, Valbuena hit lefties pretty well last season I’m surprised he didn’t get a start considering how well he’s been playing.

  4. Die hard

    Where’s Sweeney?

  5. Dr. Leroy Quackenbush

U know you suck when your back-up catcher is your DH.

  6. Michael

Cause the braves suck right? Both their catchers played today and hit a combined three home runs so?

    1. Dr. Leroy Quackenbush

I don’t think you can equate Brian McCann (DH) with Dioner Navarro (DH). I would love for our back-up catcher to be that good. You don’t even want me to show Gattis’ numbers with his 12 hrs. But nice try.

      McCann .281 .354 .614 .968
      Navarro .200 .254 .382 .636

Navarro with two HRs today. I stand corrected. :o)

Id rather have Wood or Feldman bat other than Hairston.. oh well, Go Cubs!!!

    1. cooter

I’ve always disliked Hairston but he kind of sort of hopefully seems to be heating up.

      1. willis

        There you go…

  8. Rebuilding

If there is any team that can get Jackson better its the Sox. Their lack of patience and hacktastic ways are worse than our own

  9. willis

Great start for Jackson, but the Cubs are swinging away at Sale early. This kid’s stuff+Cubs patience should be interesting.

  10. Rebuilding

    Castillo!!!

  11. DARRRRRR

Edwin Jackson gives up 4 earned in innings 3-5. Shot called.

  12. The Dude Abides

perfect game through 2 innings, quick trade him…

  13. willis

Dammit, rain. And Jackson was looking pretty good so far. Hopefully this delay isn’t too long. Chicago peeps, how bad is the weather?

  14. Oswego chris

This game is toast…it is pouring here in southwest burbs….lightning…thunder…dogs and cats living together…mass hysteria!

    1. willis

      Excellent Ghostbusters reference.

Have they given a resume time yet? Im hoping to get out of wor and catch the 7th and on.

Have they given a resume time yet? Im hoping to get out of work and catch the 7th and on.

    1. Rebuilding

I’d be shocked if it gets re-started before 10, if at all. I’m downtown and its still pouring with plenty of thunder and lightning

      1. CeeDeeVee5811

That would be perfect. hopefully it doesn’t get called. Thanks Rebuilding.

        1. willis

Hopefully it doesn’t get called, but with every passing minute it’s less likely Jackson pitches anymore. Which sucks because he seemed to be on tonight.

  17. Oswego chris

Why am I watching the Heat and Pacers?

And what’s the deal with this Birdman freak on the Heat…is all that ink real?

  18. mudge

game called. Teams ever put in a ringer when it looks like a pretty sure rainout? Like run Hector Rondon out there and pray for rain? No I didn’t think so.

  19. willis

Baez with a walk off dinger to win it for Daytona tonight. That’s kind of awesome.

    1. another JP

Nice to see Ednel Baez came thru after Law left him off his top prospect list. Vogelbomb with a big 3 run blast to get KC back in the game too. Lot of bright spots tonight- Rusin with a great 8 inning outing and Hendricks keeps on rolling. Only negative is Maples gets hammered again and seems to be on the Hayden Simpson path of success.

  20. Bill

Went to the KC game tonight and Maples has very nice stuff but struggled with control. Got some bad luck in the 1st with Contreras error. A River Bandit was dead to right on a steal of 3rd but Contreras made a bad throw and Candelario didn’t do a great job in trying to catch the throw. If they get that guy Maples would have gotten out of the 1st without giving up a run.

Vogs homer barely made it over the fence, but it looked like he hit it off the end of the bat. he certainly didn’t square it up. Chen and Hernandez both hit balls I thought were gone but were caught right up against the wall.
