Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Angels (6:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc. (Barney Leading Off)

angels stadiumThere must be something in the West Coast water, because Dale Sveum has changed things up once again in his lineup. With Starlin Castro already bumped down the order, now he’s bumping Darwin Barney up – way up. Barney is leading off against the lefty Jason Vargas, which, given the other options, doesn’t really bother me as much as you might think.

Matt Garza’s return tour continues. Hopefully he has as much success as Scott Feldman had last night.

Game Info

Chicago Cubs (23-33) at Anaheim Angels (26-33), 6:05 CT on CSN.

Kane County had 6 players named to the Midwest League All-Star Game. They are as follows: Dan Vogelbach, Bijan Rademacher, Rock Shoulders, Tayler Scott, Nathan Dorris and Felix Pena. Vogelbach is the starting DH.

Can someone explain to me why Taylor Scott was named an All-star over Pierce Johnson? Make absolutely no sense.

    1. Luke

I can’t. I’m mention it briefly in the Daily tomorrow, but I’ll probably come back to it next week (after the draft).

    2. DarthHater

      You’re right. It doesn’t.

    3. SVAZCUB

Probably because Johnson is going to be promoted sometime between now and the all-star game.

Strange reason to not recognize him as an All-Star

  5. João Lucas

Barney’s OBP against lefties this year (before tonight): .429. Tiny sample, but still.

  6. BRANT BROWN

Happy Draft Day!!!!!!!! Brett you do a wonderul job. Luke thanks for giving us the recap on the Cubbies minor league system.Hey Luke, I gotta ask whats with the man crush on Logan Watkins haha ? Ive seen him play in Iowa love his hustle and his eye. I just dont get all the love for him he seems utilityesque at best. Alcantara on the otherhand may get the call up this year if barney gets traded. This kid has speed, power and decent range. I could see that quick jump from AA to the majors. Hes not close to what Castro was doing there when he got bumped but I just have that feeling. Its Appel or Bryant today. I dont see the cubs drafting Gray. Theo said he prefers Gray. Theo never tips his hand. It will be fun to watch tonight. I cant wait for the articles to follow Brett and Luke. Thanks for all you do for us Diehard Cub fans
