Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Mets (12:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc.

citi field metsMatt Garza is on the mound, and the Cubs are going for the sweep. A good start from Garza would make my day.

Your new leadoff hitter in the post David DeJesus against-righty world? Luis Valbuena. Good choice in my book.

Game Info

Chicago Cubs (28-38) at New York Mets (24-39), 12:10 CT on WGN.

Let’s go Matt! Boost that trade value!

  2. Dylan

Marlon Byrd batting clean-up. Who would’ve thunk it?

  3. Toby

    Probably Anthony Bosch for one.

  4. cooter

    I like the batting order.

  5. willis

    Holy shit dude…

    The Mets are the Cubs?

    1. Jp3

Shoot do they have Steve Trachsel going again today?

  6. DarthHater

Garza works out of the jam!

  7. Deacon

Whoa!!! I’m STUNNED!! Sveum the Idiot took Garza out after 107 pitches and a shutout?!? In the past, he’s always said in a shutout situation that it’s ‘his (the starter’s) game’ and he leaves the starter in regardless of pitch count ‘to finish it.’ I’m stunned….he actually used some common sense!

  8. Vulcan

    The Carlos Marmol show begins…

  9. willis

Ok Dale, get him the fuck out of the game. Jesus Christ who didn’t see this coming?

Homer, walk, single. Get him out dumbass.

  10. willis

Like I said, get him out. Nope, don’t? Game over.

    Unbelievable. But not surprising.

  11. Jeff

Dale Sveum needs to be fired and Carlos Marmol needs to be designated for Assignment or Theo and his pals need to be shit canned…….

    1. 70'scub

This one is on the FO/owner if you can’t get this guy off the roster you SUCK! So much for improving the Cub culture I am out of here see you next year! What a waste of time watching these guys! Management sucks next time any of you Cub fan wants this FO to sign a player remember these cheap bums won’t cut the guy when he gets washed up. They rather force the manager to keep playing the high paid old washed up guy.

    2. willis

      Seconded. He’s a complete idiot.

  12. KidCubbie

    Just wow…..

  13. curt

    Un f****** believable

  14. another JP

    What’s the f’n use….

  15. Vulcan

Unbelievable!!! I can’t stand Sveum’s decision making anymore.

  16. Vulcan

    AHHHHHH!!!!

  17. RY34

You are fucking worthless Marmol! You SUCK!

  18. DarthHater

Yes, YES! Embrace your anger! Feel the power of the Dark Side!

  19. joey jo jo junior

I think Dale is trying to get Marmol released.

  20. Don

Just release Marmol!! Great pitching Garza! This really can demoralize a team!

  21. Oswego chris

I consider myself to be a rationale fan, but this team does not deserve anyone’s attention if they are putting the slim chance that Marmol is trade-able over winning…

    1. RY34

Dipshit Marmol wouldn’t be tradeable in little league let alone the majors!

    2. Jp3

I agree, wtf are we doing still trying to showcase this loser? I say showcase because anytime you put him in you know no lead is safe… Why else would you have this guy in? Sveum is in the office saying, “whew! Maybe this will be the last time they make me do this”.

    3. JOE

You know, I feel like I’m in the same boat… Usually pretty rationale and defensive of the decisions of this staff and FO, but once Marmol gave this game up, my wife (who is a Cardinal fan and didn’t know who Marmol was until this year) asked me why the keep playing the guy if this keeps happening. I had no answer. Sickening.

  22. TonyP

I’m literally sick to my stomach………

  23. Brent

Just add a cherry to the pile of garbage that is Marmol – he gave up the winner to a guy hitting .097. Fantastic. I think Dale is trying to get fired

  24. Oswego chris

I will admit I watched zero of this game but turned it on in the car after seeing Man of Steel(great in my opinion)…when Marmol came in, Pat and Keith did a really nice job of selling the fact that Marmol wasn’t going to blow it…acting surprised by his struggles….

    DFA…

  25. mjhurdle

Probably should have yanked Marmol after the second batter.
    sucks to lose this one.

nothing left to do but sit down and watch the over-reactions come in….

    1. RY34

Not sure what is an over reaction, the truth is that more times than not , Marmol is absolutely horrible and can’t be trusted. Not sure what fan looks forward to that on the team they are rooting for.

      1. mjhurdle

The over-reaction is not as much that marmol is horrible (although he had done a pretty good job lately, to the point his ERA had gone below 4.5 (which i did not think i would see this year)) but rather the storm of “FIRE DALE!!!” and “OMG THEO IS TRYING TO LOSE”!!! comments that for some reason were absent the last three games but now are suddenly back.

  26. willis

What more do people need to see that, as long as this guy is the manager, no matter the talent, this team is going nowhere and will continue to be one of the worst few teams in baseball, year after year? I just don’t get what he’s doing.

Marmol has been and is over. His career is over. He has nothing left. Why, with a chance to sweep, four game winning streak, positive feelings etc…do you put the game in his hands? Unreal.

    1. wax_eagle

Cold water, but weren’t we saying the *exact* same thing about gregg just a couple of years ago? His career is far form over. But he definitely needs a change of scenery.

    2. mjhurdle

well, they are on pace for a 12 game improvement between last year and this. So there is that….

      1. RY34

Come on they are the cubs, they will “F” that up too.
