Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Brewers (7:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc.

So, last night was ugly. Edwin Jackson did not pitch well, the bats did not hit well, and the Cubs lost at Miller Park for the 9th time in a row and the 19th time in 21 games. I’m kind of tired of hearing about those kind of streaks.

Scott Feldman starts for the Cubs as we really enter the window where every single game by a tradable player is going to be heavily scrutinized. So, um, do well, Scott.

Also, don’t do well, Yovani Gallardo.

Brian Bogusevic gets his first start with the big club, spelling Alfonso Soriano in left field.

Good to see Bogusevic right away. Someone in left field needs to start hitting.

  2. baseballet

Dale’s pregame rally speech: “Nobody beats the Cubs 10 times in a row. Nobody!”

  3. Required

I can’t wait for 2015! Cubs will sweep Miami in the series. Now all Miami will have to do is switch to the AL. At least Back 2 the Future 2 says so!

    1. Kenster

i thought that was suppose to be 2014 lol.. i remember that scene!

  4. cubsfanforever

Release Soriano with the others. He isn’t going to bring trade value and he is only holding up a spot for a younger player. IMO

    1. Drew7

And who would this younger player be?

      1. Scott

I think Jesus is a FA

        1. cubchymyst

I hear he walks a lot

          1. Scott

High character guy, good patients, solid locker room presence

            1. mudge

              a six tool guy

            2. cubchymyst

I don’t know about the solid locker room presence. Heard he is more like a wind that speaks in your native tongue.

              “good patients”

              I forgot he’s a physician.

            4. Hansman1982

Eh, I’ve heard he can get preachy at times and the pictures I’ve seen of him seem to indicate he’s scrawny. Not sure how much power is there.

            5. Rich H

And if he does not work out in the OF he can help with the renovations.

Glad to see we’re on wgn tonight so I’ll stop watching the coverage of all this Aaron Hernandez situation. I’m sure the Pats are ecstatic to know that their signing bonus from 10 months ago will be paying for his huge defense attorney team…. Anyways go cubs. Hopefully Scott has a nice outing today.

  6. fromthemitten

interesting… 4 lefties in a row followed by two righties… Sveum’s been pretty consistent about splitting them up in the lineup but desperate times call for desperate measures

#Cubs prospect Jorge Soler was to be examined in Chicago. His left shin isn’t healing after he fouled a ball off his leg

  8. Rudy

OTish: The Iowa Cubs still only have 8 position players(not including catchers) for 7 spots. Somthing has to give here soon.

  9. The Dude Abides

No Gomez, Braun or Hart, Milwaukee is ripe for the taking with the big bats they have out. No reason we shouldn’t take this series.

  10. Scott

Hopefully we know Gallardo around and put a small ding in his trade value.

  11. Scott

    *knock

  12. Brian Bogusevic

And how do I spell Alfonso Soriano?

  13. Mike Taylor (no relation)

    2-1, 20 IP, 76 TBF, 14 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 4 HR, 5 BB / 28 K 2.07 xFIP
    (last 3 starts vs Cubs)

  14. Die hard

Yep-Castro had plenty of time to work on his issues… At this rate he will still be working on them in 5 yrs for the Mexican League Tijuana El Gatos

    1. Timothy Scarbrough

Well, he does have two hits so far.

  15. willis

Hendricks is balling once again tonight. 0 ER through 5 (don’t jinx him you dick). His results have been very good this year.

  16. willis

    I like Valbuena.

  17. fortyonenorth

Has anyone noticed if Castro has been eating sunflower seeds lately? I was at the game Sunday and didn’t see him spit seeds even once. Looks like he’s chewing gum tonight. Maybe he’s trying to kick the habit and it’s affecting his game.

  18. Drew7

Gotta love Rizzo turning such a *horrible* month around in about 4 games.

  19. willis

Both Rizz and Castro looking very good tonight. Love that. Oh and thank Heavens.

  20. willis

Good news is Camp threw 2 innings last night, so hopefully Sveum won’t go to him in the 8th.

  21. Rynomite

Valbuena’s WAR should go up +1 after this game. Goodness the defense. And the getting on base thing. Solid.

    1. mudge

Yup, solid’s the word. Presence of mind. Valbuena’s a ballplayer. Bogusevic should go right into a platoon in left.
