You got to be kidding me. Makes me sick.

    Russell has been shaky lately.

    • Required

I get the same feeling in my stomach when they bring him in as when they brought Marmolade in.

      • Carew

Me too. I know his stats look good, but he fails the eye test for me

  • Carew

I’ve never liked Russell. I’d be completely ok with it if he were to be traded.

  • willis

I’m getting there. Only thing that couldn’t happen there was a home run. And he lays one out there to get smoked. He’s had some shitty outings lately after being pretty damn good early in the year.

I know I know, rebuilding blah blah blah. But it sucks to lose a game that should have been won.

  • John

Yeah a Cubs win would have been the Cherry on top of a great day by the front office but Russell blew it and he did it against the A’s worst hitter

    • toot

Rusin did the same thing. Do We get rid of him too?

      • Required

        Yes

  • Required

The old strike em out throw em out rally killer.

  • willis

Way to run out of an inning dumbass. Talent can be whatever, never going to win with this joker at the helm. What a dumb call. It was clear Castro was overmatched. Why the hell send a runner there?

  • John

Castro needs some more days off. He cant hit a fastball to save his life right now

  • willis

This team is .500 or close with someone else at the switch. Sveum pushes every wrong button imaginable.

    • Carew

They would be .500 if they had a damn bullpen. Quit blaming the manager for a god-awful bullpen.

      • toot

We really do need a manager!

      • toot

What has Sveum done? I mean really. Can’t scratch your head at fricking turn, I would be fired if I did that.

    • Required

My question is why take Parker out in the first place? Russell has been strugling of late. Makes me sick. Oh well.

  • Required

    I think I’ll grab a beer!

  • Mark S

As much as I hate Sveum, I honestly don’t know what else he can do with what he has…He has one awful bullpen….

    • willis

Plenty, like not sending a runner in the top of the 9th with one of the coldest hitters, who in this frigid stretch has proven he can’t catch up with fastballs, in a fastball count. Or bringing in a righty to face a righty in the bottom 8th. That’s tonight.

      • Mark S

Yeah, sending the runner was not exactly an intelligent move.. I have to wonder how the team would be with Sweet Lou still as the manager.

        • http://vdcinc.biz 70’scub

Castro has got to make contact the count was 3-2, hit something it is called situational baseball!

  • John

O well at least the front office did a great job today. Just got to keep telling myself its a marathon not a sprint.

  • http://vdcinc.biz 70’scub

Not really a Sveum problem, the Cub lefty has blown several (saves) games this year he does not have a shut down pitch! Lefty and Marmol were the worst this season as a lefty/ righty combo pitching in the entire MLB. Russel sucks when it is time to save a game, I am glad he will be gone well before the Cubs get competitive.

  • John

The sad thing is if the Pen wasnt so crappy this season the cubs might be at .500 right now and possibly better because blowing games takes a huge toll on a team. And in that bad news is the good news that the Cubs might not be all that far away from being a good team.

    • X the Cubs Fan

On the positive side, Soriano has three homers in four games (all at DH), in all four of those games he has at least pne extra base hit and an RBI… Trade Value?

      • TonyP

Soriano played left tonight not DH….

        • X the Cubs Fan

          Regardless.

  • Required

I can’t wait! Good old Sappelt will be with the team tomorrow! Sigh….

  • TonyP

My God, this shit is brutal……. They better get this rebuild right or we are going to suck for a decade. This is already 4 years of sucking…..

    • Required

We’ve sucked for 105 years. Just not as bad some years!

      • TonyP

I want a competitive team that I can enjoy watching and be excited throughout the summer and down the stretch. Being out of it by June 1st sucks……….. I;ll take the 2007-2009 team anytime.

        • Required

I tend to agree with ya but really those teams weren’t championship caliber teams either. Well maybe they were but better choke artists.

  • Required

You could trade the whole team except Wood and Rizzo and it wouldn’t bother me.

  • SenorGato

I dont dislike Sveum but do hope the Cubs can land Girardi.

    • Rebuilding

      I couldn’t agree more

      • willis

Roger that. Theo and Company have proven to have what it takes to run a team, they can’t like what they see out of that guy. Game in game out, he’s a train wreck to watch.

  • http://cubsdailyrecaps.blogspot.com Jason P

This year’s sucked, but here’s at least a little piece of good news (or at least I’m counting it as such). Our record coming into this game was the best it’s been through 80 games since 2009.
