Enhanced Box Score: Pirates 6, Cubs 2 – July 5, 2013

Jeff Samardzija was not at his best today, and the Cubs couldn’t do anything outside of a two-run homer by Scott Hairston.

At least there was something new.

Accidently clicked on 2011 top 10 (MLB website). It’s crazy to think that 2 years ago we only have one player from that list on the MLB roster (Rizzo). He was even really in our farm system. Jackson and Szczur are the only ones still on their and I think Szczur is fringy top 10 right now. Oh how our farm has changed so much and it’s not like the players are getting the call to the show.

It’s hurts seeing Hayden Simpson #10 on the list. How great would it be to have another player from 2010 in our top 10 list!

Hayden Simpson and the 2010 draft are in the running to be Reason 105 in my second edition

As much as i hate the pick, is it really that bad that it missed. Among the next 16 picks in that draft i.e. people the cubs could have signed instead, there are 3 top 100 prospects according to baseball america so its not like it is reasonable to have expected to make an awesome signing, and if simpson never had mono, who knows what could have been.

        It was a money pick.

Baez promoted to double A Tennessee

Awesome for Javy & the Cubs. And look for Alcantara & Almora to also be promoted by the end of July.

It is awesome and it’s time. I can’t wait to see how he does there and they come to Jackson here soon so I’ll get to roll down I-40 to see him in person. Hell yeah. What an infield they have now.

Unfortunately, Tyler Skaggs has been completely dominating the Rockies tonight (7 IP 2 hits) so I think the Diamondbacks might start to ease back on picking up another starter

Another way to look at it is that Arizona might hope that teams will settle for Skaggs instead of Bradley.

Does scott hairston cut down a tree before every game to use as his bat. Are my eyes bad or does his bat look huge?

Maybe he’s just happy to see you.

Rizzo has not been striking out, but is in a huge slump. I haven’t been able to watch any games in the past week. How has he actually looked?
