Brett, anything different from your earlier thoughts with the Landmark Commission today?

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

Big write-up coming when things get finalized today.

      • Eternal Pessimist

Alright, I am officially overwhelmed with all your columns today. Getting harder to keep up…and keep them coming!

  • Steve123

I don’t know about you guys but I’m happy to see Brian Bogusevic back. Now of only Jackson pitches like when he played for the Cardinals.

  • Timmy

BREAKING NEWS: the Cubs traded Mike Greenwell

    • MichiganGoat

Remember how Brett told you he thought you’d get it (being a quality member of the BN community)? This is not getting it- this is just embracing trollish behavior.

      • Timmy

yeah but it made me laugh, so mission accomplished. comeon, mike greenwell! history’s greatest disappointment.

        • MichiganGoat

Yeah career WAR of 25 a career OPS of .831 – yeah such a disappointment. His 1988 season is amazing. But yeah a massive disappointment.

        • willis

I remember loading up on that guy’s rookie cards as a kid thinking they’d be worth a lot some day. Whoops.

          • MichiganGoat

Are we talking about the same player?

He’s not a HOF candidate but that is pretty solid career.

            • willis

Oh yeah he was solid, but I went in crazy thinking he’d be just out of this world good. I sunk a lot of my allowance and dad’s wallet into those cards.

              • TWC

I can still see his ’87 Topps card in my head. Adorable mustache.

                • willis

                  Great mustache. Porn worthy.

    • DaveY

      For Saberhagen?

  • willis

Here’s to hoping EJax has a brilliant night. I’d love to take a couple from these a-holes this weekend.

  • Steve123

I know this isn’t a thread for a trade but I was thinking Schierholtz would be a great fit in right for the pirates. Tyler Glasnow is a fair trade for him. Possibly adding a PTBNL from the pirates depending on Nate’s performance

    • gocatsgo2003

Is a top 20 prospect with pretty serious upside too much to expect for Nate? Or do we think his play this year (and team control next year) could net that — or better?

      • Steve123

I think the control really helps. I would also offer to pay a the rest of this years salary for him if that helps get a deal done.

    • MoneyBoy

I have mixed feelings about him; hope they get someone useful if they do trade. Wouldn’t mind a bit if they kept him.

  • Dustin S

Rob Zastryzny getting his first start for Boise tonight. Curious to see how he does.

  • wvcubsfan

Please EJax be dominate today. I have to watch the Cards broadcast team and if they start winning I’ll have to turn it off and I really would like to see this game.

  • Rebuilding

Almora is 2-2 already tonight. I don’t think there is much more left for him to do at KC

    • DarthHater

Can he milk a cow? 😛

    • http://bleachernation.com someday…2015?

The only question is do you want to promote Almora to Daytona, and risk having him miss a bunch of games due to rainouts?

      • willis

Tempting, but damn the rainouts. I remember hating that for Baez last year. But what the hell, he needs to be challenged by the pitching. Move him and start him there next season.

        • http://bleachernation.com someday…2015?

I think I agree. Like you said though, last year was really frustrating watching Baez miss a bunch of games. It can’t help a players growth. I guess that’s what you get when you have an affiliate in Florida.

  • MoneyBoy

  • http://bleachernation.com someday…2015?

Alcantara with a BB and an RBI single in his first 2 at bats. This kid is getting better every day.

  • Rebuilding

Castro and Rizzo tonight! We need to stop playing so well – if we win tonight we are down to #10 in the draft

  • Mark S

Holliday injured. Soriano for Taveras. Do it Theo!

  • zHolliday-

So as a team the cardinals are batting .338? And the Rockies are in the upper .260’a in second? How can the cardinals be that much better. I think they relaying messages and stealing signs 👍😊

    • zHolliday-

I mean they are hitting .338/RISP*

    • Rebuilding

No, they are hitting .338 with runners in scoring position. Which is pretty amazing and unsustainable

      • zHolliday-

Yeah I know, I corrected it and it’s outstanding and unreal they have that high of an avg. this far into the season.

  • Rebuilding

    A. Cabrera with another nice game tonight at Tennessee 7IP, 1ER, 1BB

    • DocShock

It was not quite as dominant as the numbers suggest. There were several hard hit balls including the homerun. He also was bailed out in the 7th when Silva grew a seed home to cut down a runner at the plate. He then got he lat out with runners on 2nd & 3rd with a hard hi groundout to 2nd. He did get several groundouts, over 10.

  • Rebuilding

    Strop is looking downright nasty

  • Dustin S

Josh Vitters playing tonight for the AZL Cubs. Assuming a rehab assignment, he should be back at Iowa soon.

    • college_of_coaches

JC Paniagua is pitching tonight for the AZL Cubs as well.

      • SenorGato

It would be nice if Paniagua matched that “first blue chip since Prior” comment from ABTY on PSD. I hope I quoted that correctly.

The competition is mediocre enough that I buy him as the most talented pitcher in the system right now. Not ready to do the whole reliever/starter thing on him as there’s no injury history and I have yet to see him throw the ball.

  • hansman1982

You stay classy Mike Matheny. Not surprised to see the Cards whining and bitching (or is it complaining or whatever the hell the debate was tonight) after a loss.

They are the LeBron James of the NL. Really good but unless they are getting every call, it’s the end of the damn world.

    • Rebuilding

What was that about? Was it the call on Adams?

      • hansman1982

Cards post-game is speculating that it was. I’ll suffer through it some more and see what Matheny says in the post game.

  • ChicagoMike702

Paniagua started tonight for the AZL Cubs: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 Runs and 4 K’s. Can’t ask for much more than that.

    • JulioZuleta

      I ask for 9 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, and 27 Ks.
