Quantcast

wrigley field from right bleachersCarlos Villanueva gets start number two on his return to the rotation. I would imagine his pitch count would be limited again today, though he’ll probably be permitted to push it toward 90 or so.

Joe Kelly, a swing-man in his own right, is on the bump for the Cardinals.

We are seriosly going to get shut out by Joe ‘Fucking’ Kelly. Faith, trust and pixiedust.

Shierholtz is doing good job dealing with the sun. For all criticism of Sammy Sosa’s defense, he handled the sun pretty well at Wrigley.

  • DaveY

That pitcher Rodon at NC state that Kris Bryant mentioned is a strong candidate for the number one pick in next years draft.

Why don’t we just bring up Jae-Hoon Ha for his center field defense? An outfield of Soriano-Bogusevic-Schierholtz has annoyingly little range, and with Dejesus and Sweeney on the DL, we don’t have a true CF on the roster.

      Nevermind, I forgot about Borbon,

On the postgame Sveum is talking about the changes Castro has made. He said it was mainly a change in the leg kick. Instead of just picking up his leg and putting it back down (I would say he was actually lunging with it), he is focusing on using it to load. He said it was important that Castro’s front knee loaded all the way back to his back front toe. Pretty interesting.

Also want to say – Castro has been playing some really nice defense this month

    • bryan

Completely agree. People murder his defense cause of the errors but what they dont keep in mind is the range and the number of difficult plays he makes. Im a super huge castro fan so I get annoyed seeing all the trade him posts. While I was at first confused why they were changing a 200+ hits aa season batter, im starting to like his new approach. Hopefully the power numbers start to climb.

If your considering trading Castro I believe price his tag would be a LOT more than Shark. I wouldn’t deal him unless it was for at least 3 top 100 players plus. he is going to be the best Cub here when their winning, and idc what the sabremetrics say.

A little Friday humor. It looks like Channel 2 in SF needs a fact checker:

That’s just wrong on all kinds of levels. Someone is looking for a new job tonight.

    Hoyer is on WGN now:

    (1) Happy how we are playing
    (2) Hopes Bryant is playing well in A+ by this time next year (guess he’s starting in KC)
    (3) Harder to be a seller than a buyer because you have to know everyone’s farm system inside and out
    (4) Getting value back depends on how badly a team wants a specific guy as opposed to wanting to fill a position
    (5) Samardzija’s struggles are learning to pitch w/o his best stuff
    (6) Wants a good, deep farm system so it’s survival of the fittest
    (7) Envies Cardinals depth
    (8) Disagrees w John Rocker’s comments lol

    • JeffR

I hope if he is in A+ ball at this time next year he is in line for a promotion to double A shortly. I’m thinking that Theo and Jed are hopeful that he moves quickly but saying it publicly just adds unneeded pressure.
