wrigley field from right bleachersIf the Cubs were competitive this year, tonight’s game would be absolutely unbelieveable. Sunday night on ESPN. Wrigley Field. Last game of the first half. Two All-Stars facing each other on the mound. And it’s Cubs/Cards, with the Cubs going for a series win in four.

Just typing that out … it’s still pretty awesome, even if the Cubs are in the middle of a sell-off.

Game Info

St. Louis Cardinals (56-36) at Chicago Cubs (42-50), 7:05 CT on ESPN.

Wow was that game a heartbreaker, thanks Dale (or my apparently unrealistic expectations that this team had turned a corner). I want to believe so bad but it’s always the same fill the balloon just to deflate it. It’s only that much worse when cardinal fans have taken over wrigley…. Gregg should not have been pitching in that spot Dale. Theo/Jed move garza before there’s another “cubbie occurrence” ie don’t let him start again before he’s gotten us some decent prospects. An aside, what ever happened to heesop choi, Corey Patterson, and Matt murton? I remember when those guys were supposed to be our future :/

      Brilliant Brad…
Having your closer in a tie game the top of the ninth when you just roughed up the other teams closer to tie in the bottom of the eighth? Probably not Dales fault. The cards had over 20 hits… Probably not Dales fault.
      Also FYI
Hee Sop choi got us Derrick Lee – Murton with some other slop got us Harden and Gaudin from the A’s & Patterson never amounted to anything but a replacement level CFer

And we gave up josh Donaldson who is now a stud in that murton deal.

SSS ALERT, but still…..Starlin Castro’s July line (thus far) is just a complete reversal of fortune:

    .313/.365/.479/.845; .167 ISO; .369 wOBA; 133 wRC+

I mean, it’s not time yet to say that he’s back or anything, but we can tentatively call this a good sign.
