Quantcast

bnpodcastimagesmallBrace yourself, because this week’s podcast is a long (which necessarily means it’s good, right?) one. You may need to break it up …

This week, Sahadev and I talk about the Cubs’ first half, and some of the disappointments. We talk about prospects, we talk about scouting, we talk about how you can use old school stats, we talk about “renting” players (literally), we talk about crapshoots, and so much more. And those are just the emails!

We also get into our 2014 expectations as they relate to how the team has performed so far this year.

The big focus, given the time of year, of course, is the trade market, and we discuss how teams may view trades differently than fans/analysts. We also go over the Cubs’ entire roster and discuss the trade value/implications/rumors/etc. for every single player.

And if you were a big Rick Watkins fan back in the day (not a typo), tune in for the first 10 minutes.

You can listen to the podcast there below, or download it for later listening. You can also subscribe via iTunes. Here’s your iTunes link, and you can also find it by searching in the iTunes store. For those of you who use other feed-catching services, here’s the podcast feed. For those of you just tuning in who want to catch up on prior episodes, here’s the whole lot.

Enjoy:

Too bad Rick Watkins doesnt have his own RSS catcher feed.

There would be so many subscribers …

      • Jim

  • On The Farm

By the way: Rizzo is supposed to be on ESPN 1000 today at 4:00 CST I believe.

    Brett Sahadev-

-Tell me about the draft: Crap shoot
-When will we win a world series: Crap shoot
-Is Castro going to rebound: Surprisingly nothing about crap shoots ….. Nevermind Brett snuck it in

    Hey Brett,
Listening to you comments about the pressure on the FO to reach
.500 baseball next year, it’s hard for me to understand why they would trade him. This was around 1:25 into the show. I thought your reference to a politician was a good one. People in those positions do walk a fine line.

  • Larry Bittner

Can’t find the podcast 34. Not sure if its me or on your end but not finding it.

    • Spriggs

Do you know there are two i’s in Biittner?

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

It shows up in the feed and on iTunes online, but not yet on iTunes, itself. Must just take a little time for it to pick up – used to be much faster (which is not a BN issue, it’s an iTunes issue).

Our new Kane county Cougar couldnt get out of the 3rd. 2 hits, 4 bb’s and a hit by pitch.

  • Tim

Another day, no movement on Garza. I think he will be traded before his next start, I just want to know. I have been checking relentlessly today in hopes of breaking news. Someone had put something up earlier saying the Dodgers had a deal with the Cubs for Garza, ugh, I can’t wait to read about what we get.

  • jpeck

This is the Dempster saga all over again. Lol. Dempster had 4 last starts for the Cubs.

  • Jp3

Well he’s only got 2 more and that’s about 13 more days MAX…

  • Kevin

Enjoyed the podcast, 1st time listener.

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

Awesome. They aren’t usually quite so long …

  • cb

Ah – that looks like part of the ad. I hate clicking ads.

Is it possible to separate them a little more in the future?

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

      Nah. Because now you know.

  • Jim

I think I must be one of the few that thinks that Junior Lake will be a very good major league player. I don’t know if I buy into the utility player. I believe that he will eventually be a corner outfielder.

I’m thinking about going to the casino and throwing some dice. Do you have any advice?
