Quantcast

Carlos Villanueva just didn’t have it tonight, missing his spots and what-not. And if you get blasted at Coors Field, you get blasted. Junior Lake got another hit and took a walk, though he misplayed a ball in center field and notched his first error. He was also thrown out attempting to steal, but it looked like it may have been a hit and run that didn’t work out.

But I saw something I feel like we haven’t seen in a while …

Full box.

  • Jp3

Looks like Carlos was doing his best Scott Baker impressionist night getting whacked around last night.

  • MichiganGoat

    I didn’t see Lake’s error, what happened?

  • Chad

He went back first on a blooper between him and Barney and he couldn’t make up the ground to get it on the fly and he tried to bare hand it on the way by and missed it. Cuddyer, I believe it was, advanced to second on the bobble.

  • Chad

Rondon did look pretty sharp last night.

  • Eric

Good with the bad I guess. Lake is exciting and aggressive–which means errors will occur and stand out.

    • MichiganGoat

Plus the fact that he’s never really played CF isn’t going to help.

      • Jp3

I agree MG but if there was ever ago is time to get him some playing time out there this seems to be it…

        • Jp3

*a good time… Damn auto correct after I didn’t hit space.

        • Die hard

Absolutely and try him at every one of IF position to see where comfortable

          • Jp3

He’d be a huge catcher but id love to see that 80 graded arm throwing down to second base occasionally

            • MichiganGoat

Nah he should be a pitcher.

              • Jp3

                I’m in!!!!

          • scorecardpaul

            how about first base

  • Scotti

Re. CS: FWIW, reportedly about half of Lake’s SB in Daytona were of the delayed steal variety. It will be interesting to see if he tries that in the bigs. Something tells me that won’t go over to well (i.e. he’ll get caught stealing).

  • Die hard

Lake will soon become the laughing stock of the league unless an old timer like Awesome Dawson sits him down and has a heart to heart… But of course the FO is too full of itself to even consider asking past Cubs to help the kids… née Sandberg

    • sven-erik312

Soriano will take care of him if he needs taking care of

      • Die hard

That’s what I am afraid of– need a humble but fierce and smart competitor… Not a selfish lackadaisical watch my homers player

    • AB

Kind of like you are the laughingstock of BN??

      • Die hard

Sure- shoot the messenger but ignore the message

        • sven-erik312

Sori is a good guy, I like having him there.

        • MichiganGoat

Die hard your genius is not in your replies, you are at your best when you just post and ignore the replies. I truly enjoy the satire of your initial post but when you respond to replies it just pulls the curtain from your wizardry and makes you very trollish. You are legendary on BN but once you start responding to replies you lose all your power and the show you put on crumbles.

          • Die hard

Genius and dunce in one sentence– I can tell that u are a teacher who knows how to motivate kids to do their best– trouble is wont work with old farts

            • MichiganGoat

Well the genius compliment is quickly disappearing gramps. And I’m staring to believe you aren’t that old… people over 40 don’t use “U” regularly. Like I said the curtain has been pulled and troll has been found.

              • Die hard

Don’t recall being 40– wish u were right–

                  STRIKEEEEEE 1!!!!!

      • MichiganGoat

Yes he is our favorite jester

    • college_of_coaches

Die Hard, I like you, so please take this well. Regarding your use of née, it is the third-feminine verb for “born” in French. When you read it in obituaries, it only occurs for women, and it refers to their maiden name, thus née is a fancy way of saying: “she was born (with the name…).” For Sandberg, it would be né, but it wouldn’t make sense since he is still alive and his name hasn’t changed.

Also, I think that Sveum is more than capable of taking Lake under his wing. The kid has already been mentored by Billy Williams.

      • http://www.frenchrocks.net Ian Afterbirth

        Maybe Die hard’s phone auto-corrected “e.g.” to “nee”……

        • Mr. B. Patient

Die hard’s phone is rotary dial.

        • hansman1982

Kinda like it auto-corrects the genius he types in to utter nonsense?

    • Nate

Why do you think he’ll be a laughing stock? He’s a young guy up early and will have growing pains. No one knows if he’s even a starter or a utility guy. I still dream of a line up of

      Soler
      Castro
      Rizzo
      Bryant
      Almora
      Lake
      Castillo
      Alcantara

Obviously, they won’t all be there and all these trades have some solid position player prospects that could take anyone’s spot but that just means trades for prospects won’t hurt in the future

  • sven-erik312

Tough loss last night. Wouldn’t it be great if Garza pitches a no hitter tomorrow night?

    • Die hard

No hitters are lucky— strike out 15 more impressive if no walks

    • willis

It would have been great if he would have pitched last night but they have purposely pushed him back which then put a non power pitcher against a stellar lineup. I know the reason why, doesn’t mean it doesn’t blow.

I do like watching Lake. One gaffe last night but that’s going to happen, especially if he’s in CF more than not. Watching him at the plate is fun.

  • MichiganGoat

    For die hard
