Open Thread: Post All Rumors and News Here Until the 36-Hour Trade Deadline Blogathon Begins (5am CT)

asleep at keyboardIn anticipation of pulling off a 36-hour marathon session here at BN over the next two days, I’m calling it an early night. We’ll have some fun starting at 5am CT tomorrow morning, and you’ll all get to watch to see if I crack in the wee morning hours of Wednesday, or fall apart during the inevitable flurry of activity in the last hour before the Trade Deadline.

In the interim – while I (hopefully) sleep soundly, and dream of top 100 prospects, mystery teams, and leveraging – please feel free to post any and all rumors/news/tidbits/whateves in the comments here. That way, if anything happens later tonight, at least some gracious BN’er will have you covered. Be on high Bro Hug Watch alert and all that.

And, then, when the morning rolls around … we dance. Coverage for 36 hours straight. Prepare by following BN on Twitter and “liking” it on Facebook.

How did you get yours to work? Mine never has! :-(

          1. DarthHater

Are you using the same email for your gravatar account as the email you use when you post here?

            1. Mr. Cubster

No, I haven’t been using the same email address. I never realized that before, so is that what the problem has been?

              1. DarthHater

        2. JulioZuleta

          Good choice

It may take a few minutes to show up.

      1. Mr. Cubster

        Thanks guys! :-)

    2. Mr. Cubster

Same email address now, but same non results!

      1. DarthHater

Make sure that you have exactly the same email here and at gravatar. Then log in at gravatar and upload a new avatar photo. Select it, then wait about 15-20 minutes. It should then show up here as your avatar.

        1. JulioZuleta

          You’re such a good teacher.

          1. DarthHater

The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master

      2. Mr. Cubster

Thanks so much guys for the help! :-)

And all because I was using two different email addresses…

I really appreciate the help guys! :-)

        1. JulioZuleta

It seems like a little thing, but it really is nice when people have an avatar. I definitely remember them better/tend to talk to them more.

    3. adamae24

I am trying to get Gravatar to work too

      1. JulioZuleta

Looks like it’s working to me.

        1. Mr. Cubster

          Thanks, much!

      2. DarthHater

        Looks like you succeeded

        1. Mr. Cubster

          Thanks much!

      3. adamae24

        And it now works

Jesse Rogers at ESPN on twitter said the Pirates scout at the game left when Samardzija was taken out of the game in the 8th inning – coincidence ?

    1. another JP

Of course not. Pirates scouting Shark means they’re interested, and knowing Theo is asking for a haul of prospects didn’t dissuade the Bucs from sending a scout to the game. There’s definitely interest there.

  7. Vulcan

Does anyone know how to shrink the size of your photo on Gravatar? It just comes up zoomed in way too far.

    1. Vulcan

      Anyone?… Bueller?…

      1. JulioZuleta

Hmm, I can’t remember. It’s been so long since I set mine up.

    2. rockin' dawg

Probably has to be 20 x 20 or less.

  8. Bilbo161

    Break a leg Brett.

    1. Scotti

We still want you to work it even if you break your leg…

  9. another JP

MLBTR reporting Cashman says more bats will be coming to NY by Wednesday. With Cervelli banged up and the only catcher with the potential to OPS better than .600, NY would be all over Dioner Navarro I would think. And wouldn’t cost as much as Sori either… they can fork another pitching prospect over and that would do just fine.

    1. Josh t

Hard to get excited it would be a pitching prospect even worse then Corey Black

      1. another JP

Corey Black is a pretty decent pitcher. Are you a scout/talent evaluator?- every one that’s analyzed the Soriano trade has had positive comments regarding Black’s potential from what I’ve seen.

        1. Cubsfan2436

Black is undersized, plus secondary pitches (probably average secondary stuff, I’ve read blow average). All he has going is he throws hard. He is a complete lotto ticket. He’s a legitimate prospect but he’s a fringe guy

          1. Cubsfan2436

            No plus secondary pitch*

            1. Scotti

Small matters in a just a couple things. One of them is power/FB. He’s already got that. The guy throws upper 90′s to 100. That’s a hell of a FB. All he needs is a DECENT 2nd pitch and he can be a top closer. If he shows stamina that’s the second thing.

      2. Scotti

Navarro won’t get a return anything like Black. That said, Black is legit.

      3. AlwaysNextYear

And you work as a scout for what team again Josh t.

        1. Cubsfan2436

Josh has a point. What has the market ever been for backup catchers. We’d be pretty lucky to acquire an arm of blacks talent for Navarro.

Don’t hate on the guy for being realistic about the situation
