Pre-Gamin’: Brewers v. Cubs (7:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc.

wrigley field from right bleachersSo much for the Brewers being a doormat in this series. Who started that ridiculous rumor?

Jake Arrieta starts for the Cubs in his debut with the club. He’s obviously one to watch as we look ahead to the near-term future.

You’re going to look at the lineup, and you’re going to see things – Nate Schierholtz out against a righty, Darwin Barney sitting. You’re going to want to do some mental gymnastics and predict a trade. Sure, maybe that’s what’s up. Obviously the Schierholtz smoke is quite billow-y right now. But, keep in mind: this is Game Two of a doubleheader. Sometimes the lineup looks wonky because it’s Game Two of a doubleheader.

But, like, yeah, be on the lookout for Bro Hugs.

Now let’s all watch the Cubbies go down 1-2-3 on balls out of the zone

    Drat Barney strike-out !

I will be so excited the day I never have to see Barney in a Cub uniform again. Easily my least favorite player from the last 5 years.

        More than Bradley?

This Cubs team really doesn’t like the idea of a late inning lead in a ballgame, do they? Egads, what a mess of a team. No hitter in the lineup with an OPS over 800. Lousy defense. Dumb manager. The only quality on this team is suprisingly good starting pitching. Otherwise it’s just one big train wreck. And Castro, I just dunno……really discouraging.

At least give us a good at bat Junior…

Must he always swing out of his shoes?

Say what you want about that play by Castro or Gregg, but this offense is just pathetic. Can never core runs consistently. It’s almost impossible for them to score in more than one inning. Another thing that drives me crazy is that the few relievers we have, Dale continues to drive them out there and runs them into the dirt.

I have to preface this by saying that they were playing Wisconsin, the Pirates low-A affliliate…but there were 4 Pirates scouts behind me at tonight’s Kane County game. Most likely just scouting their own players and nothing more to it, but FWIW I thought I’d mention it. I couldn’t help but wonder if there is a chance they were checking out some Cubs too.

As a side note after tonight’s games finish, Kane County will be the only Cubs team in the org to play another game before the deadline (they play @noon tomorrow).
