Quantcast

Whether you’re just now stirring or still up from last night, treat yourself to a video of Chicago Cubs prospect Matt Szczur making an absurd diving catch yesterday:

  • 5RunHomerun

If he makes the big league roster at some point, he and Castro will form the beginnings of an all-time dictators roster. I’m kind of excited for that possibility.

    • Sammy’s boombox

I am baffled by this. Isn’t his surname something to do with a rat? What dictator are you referring to?

      • terencemann

He’s talking about the phonetic spelling of Szczur.

      • http://www.bleachernation.com Luke

        Szczur = Caesar

        More or less.

First time posting just have to say idk why anyone is saying let’s trade baezs dude is a monster! Yea he strikes out a lot but he is only 20 he is getting better each day. I say the cubs deffinetly should trade gregg schreholtz russle and dejesus! They would get to see what some of the young guys can do and probably finish with the worst record in baseball imagine how good are top 5 prospects will be there moving in a great direction

    • Scotti

Welcome to BN, Shane. I agree, no need to trade any of the young guys at this point. Folks seem to see Baez and Vogelbach as expendable because of Castro and Rizzo but, in my opinion, you let those four guys figure it out. In the end if you like Castro and Rizzo more than the other two you can trade Baez and/or Vogelbach after they have ripened on the vine and they’ll be worth so much more in return than they are now. If it turns out that you like Vogelbach and Castro more then you can move Rizzo and/or Castro. You can not do all of that if you move them now.

      • Danny Ballgame

You could also move Castro/Baez to a different position to have as many bats in the lineup as possible. It would be a great problem to have

Sory about spelling been up all night and my phone is not all that good its my emergency phone tell I get a new one!

    • Scotti

Very few here worry about spelling. Very few.

  • RizzoCastro

007 Casino Royale reference I see. Very nice Brett. How’s things going?

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

      Jittery. Very jittery.

      • RizzoCastro

Well lets hope for a bunch of moves today all around the league and I pray the good lord will help get you through the next 12 hours.

  • FFP

East Coast checks in with first coffee; black, brewed in a ‘clever’ (low tech gadget), in a favorite mug. Good work so far, Brett.

    • sven-erik312

Good morning FFP, It’s almost lunch time over here! It’s warm and humid in Sweden today. How are you doing?

      • FFP

Sven-erik! Doing OK in Massachusetts. Doing better for your asking, Thanks. Humidity finally moved out here yesterday giving way to the best weather day of the year–so far. It’s got me thinking about taking a holiday (and considering which Cub affiliate to visit, of course).

        • sven-erik312

Same here. You know, I can almsot guess what kind of weather we get here by watching the weasther on the Northeast coast. It always comes here. If you get a hurricane up there, we get what’s left of it around 10 days later!

  • Bret Epic

Hi Brett… hope you’re having a blast with the blogathon. I had an idea to pass by you. A wrap up involving the currently injured players and their current statuses in their injuries. It’s just an idea, and I know it’s time consuming and would take a good amount of effort, but I think it’s an article that would get a lot of reads/attention. If not, it’s cool. I just figured it would be an article to keep us Bleacher nation fans excited. Much love and keep up the good work!

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

Thanks, Bret. I do try to update injuries from time to time, but – if I have an opportunity – a comprehensive update would be solid.

  • 1060Ivy

    Going strong Brett

Keep it up. It’s for a great cause and all downhill from here on in

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

      Thanks, man.

  • Josh

    Man nice catch

  • Jp3

Great work Brett, still going strong I see. Hopefully the Cubs will make a couple moves this morning to give you new life.

Since I was up, I decided to look at why Harvey and Wheeler are going to be 1-2 punch to fear:
Harvey’s velocity has exploded upward since his debut:

  • http://deepcenterfield.blogspot.com Jason Powers

Harvey’s last outing, he reached back and put a 100 MPH on his 90th pitch. Freak. Get’s about 10 inches of lateral movement on the sinker. Great stuff. • jpeck

I was moping around because i “only” got 5 hours of sleep last night. Then I remembered what you were doing and decided I should stop whining. Stay strong Brett.

  • sven-erik312

    Yer a trooper, Brett!
