I’ll have a full post on this shortly (I’m out on errands temporarily), but I thought your want to know:

According to his agency on Twitter, the Cubs have claimed 23-year-old Yankees pitcher Brett Marshall off of waivers.

The apparent corresponding move was the Cubs waiving recently claimed pitcher Liam Hendriks.

More on all of this soon.

  • cub4life

When we claimed him did we waive Hendricks?

    • DarthHater

Reportedly lost Hendricks to the Orioles via waivers.

      • cub4life

yea I saw that, i was checking to see if we waived him before or after we got Marshall?

oh bummer mate, well throw another shrimp on the barbie

  • Coldneck

Well, seems his girlfriend/wife can ably fill in for Kim Dejesus. Kirkey is right.

    • Coldneck

      *Crikey. Pardon my excitement.

    • DarthHater

Brett’s gonna need to get her forehead detached from his face before he takes the mound. 😛

    • C. Steadman

I think Kim is better looking

      • Bluz Cluz

If you think Kim, misses sticks, skin and makeup (yuck) looks better then this girl, who is actually very cute and has what looks like a very nice shape, then I feel sorry for you.

  • A_Mazz_Ing

Woah woah woah. Another B. Marshall in town? This is going to be confusing. He better not wear 15.

  • Old School

I would rather have Surkamp. He’s lefty and has had tommy john recently.

    • ChrisRowler09

Marshall is a RHP. But he had TJ surgery in 2009.

      • Old school

        I feel better now. Thanks

  • Jon

If this was a pure swap of players(Marshall for Hendricks) at first blush, it seems like Marshall has more potential and upside.

  • Austin8466

According to Fangraphs.com, he was the Yankees #7 prospect heading into the 2013 season.

    Not too shabby.

    • Edwin

He seems pretty similar to Hendriks. Hendriks has better minor league numbers, due mostly to his good control. Marshall has a little bit more K% to his game, but also higher BB%.

      • Austin8466

Agreed, but in 3 seasons (fractions) Hendriks put up an average of 6.06 ERA. Marshall’s pro ERA is 4.5, but a much smaller sample size.

Marshall is also a year younger and has 2 less seasons in the majors, so if he turns out to be a long term piece he could end up costing less and we get more ROI.

I like the move and letting Hendriks go to the O’s.

        • Edwin

It’s a 12 inning MLB sample for Brett Marshall, so you can basically throw that all out. Based on minor league numbers, Marshall has put up a FIP of 4.09 and 4.62 in AA and AAA, respectively. Hendriks has put up a FIP of 2.82 in AA, and then 2.29, 3.09, and 3.68 in AAA.

To me, it comes down to whether you want to bet on Hendriks being able to increase his K%, or Marshall being able to decrease his BB%.

If you guys think she is hot, you must have pretty low standards.

    • gocatsgo2003

      Uh… excuse me?

    • Jon

      • C. Steadman

        hahaha atta boy Jon

    • beerhelps

She could come over and make me a sandwich, I’d be down with that.

Wow this was a nice little pick up. Call me crazy but if this guy pitches well and gets on track this is the pick up of the offseason for the cubs imo!

    • Edwin

I swear somebody said the exact same thing about Liam Hendriks.

  • Beast Mode

We’ll I guess I have low standards. She is hot!!

  • Beast Mode

Oh and I think this is a steal for a waiver wire puck up;)

Shes no dog, but, just for reference and curiosity….scale from 1-10 ??

  • studman69

I definitely would NOT hit it. Just look at those sharp knees. She is way below my standard

  • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

What a classy thread. Real proud of this one.

    • Edwin

      Says Mr. Series Sheview.

      • forlines

Not hating on Brett or anything, but I have to give props where props are due.

        *gives props to Edwin*

If you haven’t noticed the distancing of that over the past year and a half, you haven’t been paying attention. Don’t punish someone for changing for the better.

Also: discussing the appearance of professional models and actresses is hardly the same thing as what’s going on here.

        • Edwin

I fully understand (and support) what you’re doing/have done with the Series She view. Just having some fun on a slow work week.

          • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

Right on. It’s cliche, but I’m now (post-daughter) a little sensitive about that stuff.

            • Edwin

Maybe next season’s Series She-view candidate list can be expanded to include women of notable achievment in their professional field.

              • Jon

                Maybe Tori Black?

              • miggy80

I would like to think SOME of the Series She-View I put together last year were classy.

                • hansman

Only if they involved cheeseburgers and Kaley Cuoco

                  • DarthHater

                  • DarthHater

Damn hamburger got cut off! 😛

Cub fever. Ho ho ho. Operation 60 Wins, still activated!

  • Oswego chris

I finally have a second Cubs’ book idea…Aussie Blue: The Trials and Tribulations of Liam Hendricks’ 10 Days As a Chicago Cub.

I think this woman dumped ChrisRowler09
