kid-watching-tvToday the Chicago Cubs released their television broadcast schedule for the 2014 season. WGN gets the opener on March 31, and 71 games in total. The rest of the games are on CSN or CSN+ and then eight games on WCIU.

There are just four national games currently scheduled – two on Fox, two on ESPN (one of which could be a WGN game if ESPN changes its mind).

  • TWC

    “Tue 4/1 OFF DAY”

    Stupid stupid stupid.

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

Completely agree. I know they do it for makeup purposes, but it’s such a come down.

      • TWC

I cannot understand why the MLB scheduling deities just don’t add it on day 4, after the first 3-game set, rather than blue-balling everyone with an off day on day 2.

        • miggy80

and it’s a Saturday! Talk about blue balls.

          • miggy80

            I mean Tuesday so whatever

        • Brocktoon

They do it so people with opening day tickets get an opening day game. It’s very silly

  • Fishin Phil

Wed 4/23 vs. Arizona 1:20 PM WGN – Watch the third base line for a puppet with a beer in his hand.

    • TWC

No kidding? There’s actually a non-remote chance that I might be in Chicago that week to catch a game.

      • Fishin Phil

Watch 3rd base line for puppet having beer with hippie.

      • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

Let me know if you are. Maybe we can all try to get together.

        • Fishin Phil

Watch 3rd base line for puppet having beer with hippie and kickball star.

        • C. Steadman

heck, if y’all are goin I’ll make a trek in from the burbs

          • http://www.w2wn.net Cerambam

Watch 3rd baseline for a puppet having beer with a hippie, a kickball star, and a former cubs flamethrower.

        • DarthHater

I can never get together with any of you guys because one of you would undoubtedly try to beat the snot out of me for some smart ass thing I posted, and then I’d have to use the Force Choke, and it would just be ugly. :-P

    • Austin

I’ll be at this game as well. Just have to buy the tickets.

  • JB88

Man, talk about a seemingly brutal first two months of the season, schedule-wise. 34 road games by 6/1, 25 games against teams that made the playoffs last year 33 games against teams that finished .500 or better, and an early west coast roadtrip. Gonna be another long season.

    • 1060Ivy

Makes sense that the Cubs are on the road early in the season as Chicago weather in April can be cold and wet so won’t complain about the road games.

Would prefer that they were played in the south / southwest and against worse teams but at least the Cubs will be home for warmer, drier weather.

  • NorthSideIrish

I love that Opening Day is on a Friday again this season…

    • Brocktoon

Yep, can’t beat a home opened on a friday

    • Patrick W.

I cannot wait to be back in Chicago for my 11th consecutive Opening Day. Friday is awesome.

      • NorthSideIrish

Last year it was on a Monday and in 2012 it was on a Thursday with Friday as an off day…much improved this year.

        • Brocktoon

2012 was even better with a market holiday for Good Friday the next day. Anything beats a Monday though

  • http://becomehealthier.com drcub1908

And then the Cubs playoff schedule!

    • Baron A. Redsie

That’s one positive… printing out the entire Cubs playoff schedule will save a massive amount of ink.
