salt river fieldI suppose I’ve rested on today’s financial piece long enough.

Tonight’s game – another night game, how about that? – sees Carlos Villanueva, probably the inside favorite for the temporary fifth starter’s job when the season opens, take on the Rockies at Salt River Fields. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to tell on TV, but it’s the nicest facility in Arizona, outside of Cubs Park.

Speaking of which: TV. This game is on it. It’s on MLB Network, and MLB.tv for those of you who use it.

As for tonight’s lineup, it does not feature Mike Olt at third base, which was the hope. But apparently the Cubs are saying Olt will play third tomorrow, so there’s no real additional concern here. Just would have liked to have seen him tonight is all. At least tomorrow’s game is also televised.

It’s a lineup of regulars tonight (which is to say starters and backups). I guess they’ve got to play sometimes, too.

  1. Emilio Bonifacio, SS
  2. Darwin Barney, 2B
  3. Justin Ruggiano, LF
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Nate Schierholtz, RF
  6. Ryan Sweeney, CF
  7. Luis Valbuena, 3B
  8. George Kottaras, C
  9. Carlos Villanueva, P

hey lookie there the Cubs aren’t the only ones that throw the baseball when they shouldn’t

  • willis

Good at bat there, fought back from 0-2. 6-5 now.

  • Corey C

I can not wait for Baez to make it to the bigs.

He just DESTROYED that ball tonight.

    • half_full_beer_mug

Don’t think hitting the ball a long ways was ever a question.

      • Corey C

Oh for sure. Still needs time at short/2nd

    • Teigh Cubs Teigh

“That was really, REALLY far” haha

  • ssckelley

    Baez got a break there

    • half_full_beer_mug

Yeah really a blown call, too bad he couldn’t take advantage of it.

    • willis

Ball tells the truth though. That call regular season…manager goes bananas. Pretty bad.

      • ssckelley

Yep, I don’t think those are reviewable.

    • blublud

The umpire just wanted to see him swing again.

  • Corey C

Man, I wish this site had a live chat feature.

    • ssckelley

We should do a BN Skype chat room or something.

      • willis

Yeah, the comments and message board chats are fun, but something super real time like that with a few fans during games would be awesome. And probably more civil :)

        • blublud

          I’m sure it available somewhere.

      • blublud

Could go old fashion like when I was in middle school. I call someone, who calls someone on 3way, who calls someone on 3way, who calls domeone and so on.

        • willis

I like the secret 3 way calls where your buddy calls the girl, digging in to see if she likes you or not, and you’re on the other end listening, doing your best not to bust out on yourself…

“So what do you think of willis?”

“Um, I mean he’s ok. Not just great but he kinda makes me laugh”

“You think maybe you’d go with him to the dance, I mean, do you have a date?”

“No, but I just don’t know if I like him or not”

          “Yeah, me neither.”

“he put me up to this call, trying to dig for gold on you, and I just don’t like doing it. He sucks.”

“I agree. I probably wouldn’t even dance with him, let alone go with him. Plus he’s ugly.”

*8th grade willis throws his phone against the wall in a cursing fit, grabs yearbook from previous year, looks for another date option.*

        • half_full_beer_mug

Sounds like you had a lot of 3 ways in middle school

          • blublud

            It started in elementary. 😀

        • http://www.friendly-confines.com hansman

Pfft…if you want old school, BN needs to get a party line.

(Oh, how I was scared to google party line)

  • ssckelley

Jeez, that is the third time I have went to bed with the a Cubs winning in the 9th only to wake up in the morning to find out they lost. We can’t have this during the regular season!

    • Fishin Phil

Easy – Don’t go to bed.

      • ssckelley

Yeah I know! Good thing this is only spring training.
