brewers logoThe Cubs head home after a beat-down of a road trip. At least there’s a cool 1930s homestand underway.

The Series Preview gives you the rundown on what you need to know for the upcoming series. In that way, it’s kind of a preview. About a series. See how that works?

We’re Going Streaking

The Cubs lost two of three to the Cardinals after being swept by the Braves after losing three of four to the White Sox … I don’t want to talk about it.

After, heh heh, losing two of three to the Diamondbacks, the Brewers bounced back to take a series from each of the Yankees and Pirates. At 26-15, the Brewers no longer have the top record in the league, but they do still hold a five-game lead on the Cardinals in the NL Central.

Expected Starters and Lineups

These lineups are likely to be pretty close to what actually gets fielded, but you’ll want to check each day’s Pre-Gamin’ post for the actual lineup.

Hot or Not and Whom to Watch

Please forgive me, but, with the site changes going on – and taking a LOT of time – I’ve got to beg off of this section today. Some guys are hot, other guys are not. You should watch the Cubs players, and not the Brewers players.

  • Charles Hamm

I am pretty Carlos Gomez will be still serving his suspension today.

    • Brett Taylor

I couldn’t remember when it kicked in – and, lame, I was trying to plow through so I could get back to site issues.

    • cubsfan08

I like that nickname for him: “I am Pretty” Carlos Gomez

  • Nakedman1664

    Hopefully it stops raining.

  • mjhurdle

I think we should make an exception for Garza in regards to W/Ls. I think we should all be able to see the # of games Garza has started this year vs the wins he has, that way we can know for sure how many wins playing for the Brewers has cost him this year.

  • NorthSideIrish

BA posted a very interesting mock draft with the Cubs taking Kyle Freeland with Kolek still on the board.

I believe Gomez will be serving his suspension for the 1st 2 games of this series. Expect Elian Herrera or Logan Schaefer in CF.

Random question. What happens to the Babe Ruth bobbleheads if today’s game is rained out? I’m gong to tomorrow’s game so I was wondering if they’d hand them out tomorrow instead?

    • Justin Jabs

Cubs just tweeted that the gates are open and they’re letting people in despite a tarp on the field. So I assume they’re giving out the bobbleheads today.

      • blars82

        Cool, thanks! Ebay it is!!

    • Brocktoon

I’m never really one to get into the faux outrage stuff, but isn’t it kind of embarrassing to hand out a bobblehead of an opponent’s made up narrative to beat us in the World Series?

  • Michael Cerami

The related post feature is cool but could maybe use a time/date stamp? Obviously it doesn’t matter with these series previews because they have it, but in the Soler post – the first I read today- there was a related post saying Soler is back! And I was like oh sweet! But then I realized it was an oldest and I had sadz

    Like the new site Brett.

  • King Jeff

Lookin good. Seriously, everything is so huge and vibrant now, and the mobile version is pretty sweet now too. Only issue I have had was when I opened the site this morning on my phone and the first thing I see was a giant picture of neck tattoo. Really liking the changes so far Brett.

Particularly interesting to me was the part about going back to AAA. Different situation but I do wonder if Baez is still sour he didn’t make the team out of spring training.

  • Patrick W.

Maybe somebody could post a word so I can test my blocking software on the new site?

    • DarthHater

If it doesn’t work, will you be extremely butthurt?

      • Patrick W.

        • DarthHater

          Guess that answers my question!
