Apologies for the very late EBS tonight. I was at once trying to meet up with some BN’ers after the game and have a lovely time, and also trying to put some distance between my emotional response triggers and what happened in today’s game. That, uh, was a really frustrating loss. The fact that the Cubs eventually dropped the game in extra innings was totally a foregone conclusion once they blew the two-run lead in the 9th (thus sentencing us to another week of Jeff-Samardzija-winless-le-sigh), and I was a pretty morose dude for the four innings they were playing out the string.

There were some good things in this game, but it’s hard to summon the positivity to focus on them right now. As you all well know, I don’t give a hoot about pitcher win-loss record, and even I’m left shaking my head in disbelief and frustration for Jeff Samardzija.
