Well, that was just a thumpin’. Not all of the hits he gave up early were hard hit, but enough of them were, and there were a whole bunch of them in total. By the end, Edwin Jackson had seen his ERA nearly breach 5, when it had started the day a run lower.

At least Junior Lake had another good game (hottest hitter on the Cubs by a wide margin), and Jose Veras pitched a great couple innings in the lowest of leverage situations. Maybe it’s a start.
