[Aside: this is the 15th post on the site today, which is a record for non-Blogathon days. It’s been nuts since last Thursday.]

It was a close affair for a while tonight, but Edwin Jackson’s mid-inning struggles, and a mini-bullpen implosion put it far, far out of reach by the time the 9th inning rolled around.

Anthony Rizzo had a homer, and Luis Valbuena had a couple hits – each guy was in need of something like that. Justin Ruggiano, who is blazing hot, wasn’t in need of it, but he got a couple hits, too.
