great american ballparkFor the most part, I try to eschew the idea that individual starts can change the asset value of individual players too much. I think that’s probably still true with respect to Edwin Jackson, but, if the Cubs want to leave open the option of finding a taker for him on the trade market before July 31, he’ll pretty much need to be nails the rest of the way this month. Even then, I’m not sure I’m interested in seeing the Cubs dump  him for nothing, but we’ll get there when we get there. I’m just talking about options.

For tonight, that all assumes the Cubs and Reds are able to play. There are thunderstorms in the area, and they are expected throughout the night. We’ll see what happens.

Jay Bruce starts at first base for the Reds tonight, in place of injured Joey Votto. So that could be interesting.
