Jorge Soler Day: Batting 5th, Playing Right Field – But No Anthony Rizzo Today

Chicago Cubs News

jorge soler cubsIt’s here! An actual Chicago Cubs lineup featuring Jorge Soler:

  1. Chris Coghlan, LF
  2. Javier Baez, 2B
  3. Starlin Castro, SS
  4. Luis Valbuena, 3B
  6. Welington Castillo, C
  7. Arismendy Alcantara, CF
  8. Chris Valaika, 1B
  9. Jacob Turner, P

Soler will reportedly wear number 68, which is what he wore in Spring Training this year.

Obviously the big name missing from today’s lineup is Anthony Rizzo, who was pulled last night with lower back tightness. Rick Renteria indicated there was no concern after the game, so hopefully this is just the Cubs deciding to give him a rest day, just in case.

Not to be lost in Jorge Soler Day, Jacob Turner makes his starting debut for the Cubs. The team will continue to work with him throughout the rest of the season with an eye toward hoping he can be a back-end starter heading into 2015. There’s plenty of talent there, and he’s just 23.
