anthony rizzo featureFor the second straight game since being pulled early two nights ago, Anthony Rizzo will sit out.

According to Carrie Muskat and Gordon Wittenmyer, Rizzo’s back is still bothering him, and he hopes to be able to play tomorrow. During Tuesday’s rain delay, his lower back tightened up, and it apparently still hasn’t quite gotten right. He’s been receiving treatment, and here’s hoping it will take.

Backs can be a tricky thing, which anyone with any kind of back issue (yo) can tell you. The good news is that, unless it’s a structural issue, even the worst back pain and stiffness can recede fairly quickly. I want to see Rizzo out there as much as anyone to keep adding onto his incredible year, but I also want to see him fully recovered before that happens. Nobody wants a back problem to linger.
