So, here’s another: Keith Law has named Bryant his prospect of the year for 2014. Not that it’s a surprise, given Bryant’s unbelievable performance.
In part, Law describes Bryant’s selection and season thusly: “Bryant blew away the field, dominating at two levels, leading the minor leagues in home runs and slugging percentage, finishing second in OBP (behind a 21-year-old in low-A) and ascending the rankings to become baseball’s top prospect, all in his first full year in professional baseball.”
Law added that he expects Bryant to be up full-time by May at the latest, and provide 30-homer potential and an “outstanding eye at the plate” in the middle of the Cubs’ order. When the calendar flips and top prospect lists come out for 2015, it sounds like Bryant is a relative shoe-in to be atop Law’s rankings at ESPN.
Fun aside: Kyle Schwarber showed up as an honorable mention. How about Schwarber keeps following the Bryant path, and racks up his own set of awards in 2015?
