arizona cactusThe weather apparently held out well enough out West for the Cubs to get in a full day of workouts and batting practice (judging by the volume of video, anyway). Some notes and some visuals …

  • On the injury front, Tsuyoshi Wada threw a normal bullpen yesterday, and appeared no worse for the wear (Tribune). Wada was dealing with some hamstring stiffness. Ditto C.J. Edwards – not on the hamstring, but on the throwing normally – who had a fingernail issue. Joe Maddon thought Wada looked “very, very┬áhealthy” with good movement on his pitches. (Cubs.com)
  • Don’t divine too much from the first couple weeks of Spring lineups – Joe Maddon says he needs those first couple weeks to get a feel for the lineup, and then he’ll start thinking about April (ESPN).

  • Maddon knows the Spring rotation he’ll be going with early on, but he’s not telling the world just yet (ESPN). The Cubs open up their Cactus League slate on Thursday, with a game against the A’s at Sloan Park, and a game in Scottsdale against the Giants.
  • The cameras were out in force today to capture some moving pictures of various Cubs batters taking batting practice, so there’s a ton of video to share (most of these folks have a bunch more, so check ’em out and give ’em a follow):

I miss the Bunt Tournament:
