For the best farm system in baseball today (and one of the best in baseball history) the time has finally come to lay aside the accolades and take the diamond. Even with all the high ceiling, nearly ready talent that is stashed in Iowa and Tennessee, there are still plenty of intriguing players lurking in all levels of the system. Potential break out players are on every roster, and the only thing we can really be sure of is that this season will offer a lot of surprises.
Thanks to some affiliation shuffling, Cubs fans will be able to watch all the home games for all four full season league teams on MiLB.TV (it’s half off when you buy it together with MLB.tv), not to mention most or all of the road games at the Triple A and Double A levels. If you have been on the fence about subscribing to this service, this is the year (the Pelicans are even touting vastly improved video technology for their games). And even if you opt to go video-less, don’t forget that nearly every single minor league team streams their radio feed through the internet for free for all games. Just visit the team webpage at game time and look for the link.
To help you take advantage of this abundance of baseball, this season the Minor League Daily will sometimes recommended a particular minor league game to watch. It may not be a daily feature, but you should see it pop fairly often. Including today!

Performances of Note
- There were no real games yesterday, but if there were this would be spot you could see the best (or worst) of the individual and team performances from them.
- Sometimes there are things to note that don’t quite fit in any other section, and this is where you will find those tidbits.
- The South Bend Cubs did play an exhibition game against Notre Dame yesterday, and, thanks to nine strikeouts from flamethrower Trevor Clifton, the professionals beat the amateurs 5-3 in seven innings.
- The Tennessee Smokies are currently auctioning off some 2014 game worn jerseys, and if you want to get it in on the online action, act now. The auctions expire in a matter of hours, and there are still a few bargains to be had. There are also some pricier items, like this Almora alternate jersey that has bidding in the four digits.
Today’s Game To Watch
This first Game to Watch of 2015 will be the home opener for the South Bend Cubs. Stinnett came in at number eight on the Bleacher Nation Top 40, and this will be our first chance of the season to see his excellent sinker/slider combo in action. It will also be our first look at the home stadium for the Cubs’ new Low A affiliate. Game time is 7:05 PM Eastern.
