Chicago Cubs 2016 NL Central Championship Gear

wrigley outfieldHey, what do you know? There’s still a baseball game to be won today.

Kris Bryant joins the Cubs’ lineup today, batting cleanup behind Jorge Soler and Anthony Rizzo, who flip-flop to give the Cubs a nice, clean, alternating handedness early in the lineup. Welington Castillo gets the start behind the plate, which is interesting given how well Jason Hammel and Miguel Montero had seemed to be clicking. Castillo is swinging a very hot bat, though.

At second base, Arismendy Alcantara gets a day off, with Jonathan Herrera playing second.

Facing the Cubs is James Shields, who actually has a career reverse split, with righties hitting slightly better against him than lefties (which could be another reason for getting Castillo a start today). The goal for the Cubs today? Get the ball in the air to center and right field, where the Padres’ defense is pretty dicey.
