The Cubs specialize in one-run games.
I’ll confess that I was so gassed yesterday that I saw only the first couple innings or so last night before cashing out (game started at 10:10pm my time! I have young kids! I’m old!). Tsuyoshi Wada looked good, so I was surprised to see that he’d lasted only 4.2 innings, but you know the drill – he was just starting his third time through the order, where he was really hit last year, and he was in a very tight spot. I can understand the yank, and not just because it worked.
Offensively, the Cubs got just enough, scoring two of their runs on “productive outs.” You’ll take it.
As for the pitching, I’m not going to make the obvious Wada pun here, but I can’t promise not to be lame …
