This team, man. I’ll keep saying it. This team.

The Cubs won their 18th(!) one-run game of the year, and their 8th extra innings game thanks to a walk-off sac fly by Chris Denorfia.

It was a quiet night for offense on both sides from the get-go, with Jason Hammel dominating and Zack Greinke also pitching quite well (though the Cubs got him out a little earlier thanks to deep counts). The Cubs’ bullpen once again did its thing, and the Cubs loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th against Joel Peralta thanks to hits by Mike Baxter and Matt Szczuer, and a pinch-hit walk (a ginger walk) by Dexter Fowler. Only then did the Dodgers go to closer Kenley Jansen, but it was too late. He got Addison Russell to ground out, but he couldn’t get Denorfia to put the ball on the ground with five infielders behind him.
