Fill-in lefty Clayton Richard did just about everything you could realistically hope for tonight, keeping the ball in the zone and usually down. He got lots of grounders, and kept the Marlins from exploding for too much at any point. You’ll take that.
The Cubs didn’t do much after the second inning, but when the offense breaks out like it did, you might not need more than two innings’ worth.
