Kyle Schwarber Had Another Huge Game for Iowa, Ripped a Homer (VIDEO)

Cubs Minor Leagues and Prospects

Surprise of the day: Kyle Schwarber had another huge game for the Iowa Cubs yesterday. He went 3-5 with two doubles and a homer, raising his season line at Iowa to .358/.414/.642. It’s been only 15 games, so the sample size is obviously quite small. But Schwarber keeps doing what he does.

His day included this shot to center off of a lefty:

Based on the midseason rankings updates that are coming out, it’s safe to say that Schwarber is now a consensus top ten prospect in all of baseball – just one year after pundits were questioning whether he was worth the Cubs’ number four pick in last year’s draft.

Schwarber continues to get schooling behind the plate, and, the presumption remains that he’ll see more time with the big league team before the season is through.
