Enhanced Box Score: White Sox 3, Cubs 1 – August 16, 2015

Enhanced Box Scores

Over 100 years of baseball history tells us one inescapable truth: you can’t win ’em all.

The match-up always looked rough on paper today, and then you throw in Chris Sale being extra Chris Sale-y, and that was that. Did he get a couple extra strike calls? Sure. Was that the reason he obliterated the Cubs’ lineup? No way. The guy is just freakishly good.

Pitching-wise, the Cubs got a great performance from the bullpen, and Dan Haren – who took a rocket off of his ankle in the second inning – was only so-so.

Jorge Soler went deep in the 9th to avoid the shut out, but it wasn’t enough. The offense in this one was sorely lacking.
