Scoreboard Watching: The Cubs’ Magic Number is Down to Four

wrigley scoreboard featureThe Cubs managed to win against the Brewers, which is swell, but they didn’t get much help from anyone else.

The Cardinals pulled it out late against the Reds, preserving their 6.0 game lead against the Cubs and 4.o game lead against the Pirates.

That’s because the Pirates whooped the Rockies, so there was no change in the Central. The Cubs remain 2.0 games behind the Pirates for the top Wild Card spot.

The Nationals and Orioles were postponed, and the Giants didn’t play, so there was no additional movement on that end of the Wild Card spectrum.

The Cubs won their game against the Brewers and, thus, shrunk their magic number to just four.
