That game wound up being much closer and tenser than it needed to be given how much traffic the Cubs had on the bases and how little traffic they allowed. But a 1-0 win is a win, and the pitching was magnificent. Kyle Hendricks, in particular, has had a great close to his season, and will be counted on in the playoffs should the Cubs get far enough to need him.

Chris Coghlan had a big night on the heels of his comments about playing time, and, although the Cubs failed repeatedly to get runners home from third with fewer than two outs, all can be forgiven.

And the Pirates just lost, so tomorrow is gonna have some implications …
