Ever since the Chicago Cubs aligned with CBS and WBBM radio before the 2015 season, folks were speculating that it was a precursor to a move to the more prominent sports station AM-670 The Score before the 2016, when the station’s deal with the White Sox would be up. Then, this summer, the White Sox’s future rights were reportedly contracted to WLS Radio, so it looked like the Cubs heading to The Score was extremely likely.
Sure enough, Robert Feder reports that it’s going to happen, and 670-The Score will be the Cubs’ new radio home starting in 2016.
Given The Score’s sports-related focus, and stable of baseball-minded talent, it’s a much better fit for the Cubs’ games – as well as pre-and-post game, and other possible programming – than WBBM Newsradio was, even if the latter was an adequate home for the games this year (and did quite well in the ratings).
