Yesterday, Joe Maddon hosted his second annual Respect Bald event at Sloan Park to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. Those funds approached $30,000, and a number of Cubs players and coaches, plus Maddon, lost their hair in support:

Some visuals of the event:

I want to give a special mention to Cubs pitcher Edgar Olmos:

Say what you will about hair – it’s just hair – but that clearly took him a long time to grow, and, presumably, he likes having the long hair. But this is a guy who bounced around a number of organizations this offseason, and then was eventually outrighted by the Cubs off the 40-man roster. And yet he still participated in this event, losing all that hair, for the cause. Good man, Edgar Olmos.
