The Chicago Cubs have traded lefty reliever Edgar Olmos back to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named later, per multiple reports. Hopefully, for Olmos’ sake, he sticks with the Orioles this time around.

In case you were unaware, he’s had quite a journey, this offseason.

Originally designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners on December 2, Olmos was claimed by the Cubs just two days later. Then, the Orioles claimed Olmos back off waivers on December 10 from the Cubs, and he was later reclaimed by the Cubs on December 23…got it?

Well, you might, but of course, his journey didn’t end there. On February 12, the Cubs designated Olmos for assignment again, and, today, he was traded back to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named later:

According to Jeff Todd (MLBTR) Olmos will join recently acquired southpaw Zach Phillips in the competition to replace/fill in for injured reliever Brian Matusz. After seeing both the Cubs and Orioles acquire Olmos multiple times, this offseason, there is clearly something there to like.

I’ll update this story if the return comes out sooner, but I wouldn’t necessarily expect anything right away. Brett is getting off a plane right now and will have more as everything shakes out.

Best of luck, to Edgar Olmos. I’ll miss the obvious puns.
